george cheriyan | | For past few weeks I am getting at least 3 SMS messages every day from the number 8888 in my mobile.
Morning it is a set of questions. Afternoon it is a message that my score is zero since I did not send reply to their questions ! It is followed by a message that some one some where won some prices by answering these questions !
These messages are such a disturbance especially when doing important work, driving or when in meetings.
I checked with Air Tel, my service provider, and they told me that 8888 is India Times.com and many of their customers are complaining to them about this unsolicited messages from India Times. Ait Tel executive told me that they trying to contact India Times and inform them about the complaints by their clients.
What is really irritating me is that:
1. I never requested any one to send me these messages. 2. I sent a reply to 8888 requesting them not to send me these messages. The messages continues to come, probably because these are automated systems to systematically harass people. 3. When a big company like India Times is sending these unsolicited messages continuously, they are not even giving an option to the victim to stop getting these messages.
Could any one please suggest a solution? Is it right on the part of the company to continuously send unsolicited messages like this to mobile phones? Is there any body to whom we can complain so that these messages would stop?Private Reply to george cheriyan |
