Lesson 9 - So you don't like what someone else posted!

There will be MANY posts that you don't agree with or of which you just plain don't like the tone and your fingers will be itching to post your view!

While we have freedom of speech and yes, you DO have every right to respond, STOP and consider how your views might affect your business.

Flaming is generally a disapproved practice on any public board and reflects badly on the poster.

NEVER post in anger or out of frustration. Consider first taking your viewpoint to Private Message, but if you can't (or won't - you may feel that your viewpoint could benefit others), then at least try to generalize without being pointed.

This is easier said than done. Some people can be particularly scathing and insulting in posts and it becomes difficult not to retaliate.

Firstly, it might be a good idea to read the other person's post a good few times to ensure that you are getting the correct meaning. Secondly, wait two days, before you respond. This way, your steam will have subsided and you might even find that someone else has posted your views - let their business be adversely affected... not yours!

You will find that some people make accusations of which they are themselves guilty. Ooh.... this is a biggie for me and it's really hard not to respond with "But what about when you......." If you really HAVE to do this, be gentle and respectful in a PM rather than embarrassing them in public. Some people do things without even knowing that they have done anything wrong (I am guilty of that and sometimes need others to genty bring me back on track).

Most members are great people, but you will find that some are here just to make themselves look good, by making others look bad - some are just shameless self promoters and blatant advertisers (the takers) - steel yourself.... the sun WILL come up tomorrow, no matter what you do about them.

You will meet ALL SORTS of people on Ryze - some you will get along with and others will be like fingernails on a chalk board to you! Members who are publicly critical on a consistent basis, will be asked to leave Ryze (naturally, they are first 'Flagged for Admin', a good reason given and if the reason is weak, Ryze will wait for more complaints before taking action, but they will investigate all complaints).

Above all, always try to keep your own reputation 'squeaky clean' and help rather than hinder. Best!

(Oh, by the way… I am NEVER too busy for your referrals!)
