Hello and I have been in MLM now for about five months and I am always looking for more information or tips on how I can expand my business. If you have any suggestions for me I would appreciate the advice, for I am always trying to learn.

I am relatively new to MLM myself, but have learned so much in the past year. . . the professional/management world was easier (in many ways) than figuring out how to grow my own business - yet it is actually simple things that make a huge difference! Here are mine:

1. Be ethical
Most people are skeptical of a scam - at least in the US they have a negative connotation of MLM. It is so important to do the right thing, and not exaggerate any properties or claims about a product/service.

2. Be responsive
People want to know they are important (they are!), and when we respond to their needs, really listen to what they want, provide samples, and be there to help them grow, it comes back to us in heaps and measures!

3. Have a great product
The product or service you are selling must be able to sell itself. And, in order to accrue residual income, the product or service needs to be consumable, meet a need or demand, and allow your customer to be/feel better. . .No one buys a drill because they want a drill. They buy a drill because they want a hole!

Know your product, really listen to your customers, and then match your product/service to their needs/desires where you can. . .

I know there are many others, but these are my top three!

Mark, I'm in CDM but being very similar in MLM in working, I can tell you that you chose an AWESOME field with a limitless opportunity!

With using leads, we teach our organization to find out the REASON the individual you are talking to is obviously LOOKING to finding something.. be it extra income for vacations or college funds, getting rid of debt, saving money monthly, safety issues... whatever... and show them how YOU and YOUR company can help fill that need...

Be honest, leave HYPE at the door, focus on THEM, and add VALUE to THEIR lives, and you won't need to worry about your income. It will be a given!

Just my two cents worth!! GO GET EM!!

I agree with everything that's been posted on this topic.

MLM is all about helping helping people. Zig Ziglar said it best. "You can get everything you want out of life if you help enough others get what THEY want"

I totally agree that us MLMers need to focus on our prospects first, and us second. Sure you need to have a great product or service, a proven track record of success help too. But...if you are sincere, and helpful, sometimes people will get in business with you becuase of YOU in spite of your offering.

I hope this helps.

There is some good advice here. I have dabbled in MLM for 8 or 9 years now without much success until recently. My failures have usually been down to the fact I did not believe in the product and use it myself, lack of support from upline and company and so on.

So the tips above particularly the ones about being ethical and responsible hit the nail right on the head.

Love the information posted by all. Great quote by Zig. If I could boil this who thing down to one word it would be: LISTEN. Everywhere you go everyone you talk with where ever you are just listen. When you listen you realize there is opportunity everywhere if you are willing to help others. I look forward to learning from all of you and exchanging thoughts and ideas. Do something positive for your business today!

Hi Mark,

May I suggest you take a look at Network Marketing Central, run by Kim Klaver (a/k/a 'Ms. Stud').

The concept is simple: Networkers doing business (buying from each other) without fear of being pitched into someone else's deal. You are welcome to join for free and take advantage of the Listening Bar and Reading Nook areas. Be sure to sign up for her free newsletter so you can get a taste of what's going on at NMC and how it ties into her very popular blog.

However, the real benefits are immediately apparent once you choose to become a showcased member. I joined November 22nd when there were only 279 members and have found it to be an EXCELLENT resource in terms of learning the "NEW" School of Network Marketing.

There are weekly training calls that teach you how to best utilize the site to get yourself out there. And now paid members will have access to forums which will allow us to learn how to use the different reaching out methods that many Networkers have either never tried OR would like to learn how to do.

In the short time I've been a member, I have had 2 people to join my business (they came to me) AND yesterday, at least 6 people emailed me requesting information about my product.

I've been in the Network Marketing industry since April 2003 and I can tell you that nothing I have tried or done in the past has been as productive, educational, or fun as the time I've spent at NMC.

If you, or anyone else has any questions at all, you're more than welcome to send me a PM here or on NMC.

Hello Mark,
I am asking you to email me personally at
JEFFSTORRS@aol.com and I will send you my telephone number
which is 315-745-9418. Oh and if you do this THEN I will
be able to help you. I will NOT solicit you. I have an
abundant amount of FREE advice/ideas/services along with a
lot that are not free. I do not make money at all doing
this. I do NOT want your money. AND I am more serious than
you probably think!

The more I help other people get what they want in
