Hello,

I am in the process of updating this site, have come a long way, have a long way to go, so all input would be very much appreciated. I'm generally tender-hearted, but I'll put on my thick skin..haha! Please review http://happynutritionist.com

Hi Claudia,

I think the main problem with your website is that there is no clear focus to it. Yes, I can see that it has to do with nutrition, but then there are all these links at the top that take you away from this site, links to your sponsors in the middle of the page, Google ad links that look like ordinary links, etc.

I would redo the whole look. For example, separate the Google ads from the rest by putting them inside a box - that way, I know that the links are different from the other links on the page. Links at the top should be links WITHIN your web site, not links to other web sites. Try using a two or three column layout (for an example of a 3-column layout, see my web site at www.sylvienoel.ca). Use the main column for content, and put links outside this web site in the smaller column.

By the way, there's no real need to say "Welcome to".

Also, try not to center text. It just looks ugly.

Good luck,
Sylvie

Claudia, you have several sites so I would guess you have a good working knowledge of HTML.

What your sites lack is "polish".
You have a lot of content but it is scattered around and needs better link management.

I would look at a professional CMS solution. (Content Management System).

There are a lot of them. phpwebsite, Joomla, Mambo, and my favorite, CRELoaded, are but a few of the open source systems available.

Hello Reg & Silvie,

I just returned from two weeks away, and am just getting to reading your posts!

Thanks so much for your input...I am going to have to come back and look more closely, I agree with much of what has been shared, was thinking that the page doesn't really tell what I want to do for people in a clear and concise way...just leads here and there...not that the links don't have helpful content, but there is more to what I do than that.

Actually the clicks on the google links have been helpful financially, but they are not what I'm all about, so need to consider that, and they do take people away from my page.

I still have lots to do, and your input is valuable.

Thanks again!

Claudia :-)

What kind of a CTR do you get Claudia? CTR is the amount of people that leave your page on an adsense ad.

It is a good way to fine tune your site's call to action.

Watch your stats to see how your site is doing.
How many pages does each visitor open, how long do they stay are important.

On a site that I did a few months ago the visitors each open an average of 12.34 pages. Over 80% of the visitors go further than one page and 48% stay longer thn 30 seconds.

Hi Reg,

Still catching up after being away on vacation...haven't even had time to work on my site, BUT, your question lead me to go take a look and grrrrr, I did not put my statcounter on the home page yet, so did today. So at least for this month I can't evaluate where people come in to site and go from site very well..statcounter keeps track of that for me.

I have between 200 & 300 unique visits each week, entry and exit pages not accurate this month because of the fact I didn't have statcounter on the main page (did on the others).

With the 200-300 visiters per week, only get a few click-outs (CTR) a day to google adsense.

I have lots to do, and though I am serious about what I'm doing, it's also a fun thing for me, so trying not to get to intense about it, but want to learn all I can over time.

Thanks for all your help, I'll be back to check out your links in the sig lines soon, and re-read the advise given.
