Karel Frielink | | Have we any idea how many legal bloggers there are? How many 'success stories' do we know about? Is it a great time to start a legal blog? What is the future of legal blogging? Will this network of legal bloggers still exist in say five years?
I really look forward to your responses.
Kind regards,

John Dierckx | | Hi Karel,
Just as a thought. Why are you actually asking? I could read the question from two perspectives: - the importance or value of legal blogging and legal blogs, which could relate back to an earlier question about legal blogs and how they are used as a search for research or, - the value of a blog as such as being one of the ways in which you could pressent your company and yourself in specific areas of expertise.
Chossing to be a blogger in itself tells people something about you and your company I guess. I personally think that blogging in general is a great phenomenon.
So to answer your question from my perspective, it is always good to have a blog. The value of legal blogs will always be a hard one: they are great for reference or to get you on track but in the end it is the source materials that will decide on the importance of the blog. Another question is of course what you want to use your blog for.
And that I guess answers your question: that depends on what you intend to achieve through the legal blog.
Just some thoughts,

Karel Frielink | | Has anyone heard of legal bloggers making money out of blogging? If so, how did they do it?
Kind regards,

John Dierckx | | Hi Karel,
I have not heard of anyone in particular that made money out of the blogging itself, however I do know that there are some out there that use their blogs for affiliate selling and advertisement and make money out of it.
More importantly however, in the States, judges appear to be looking closely at legal bloggers to find alternative insights into their work.
I think you should not start your blog to make money out of it directly. I have always approached it as a service to potential clients and a way to promote my services. The higher quality content, the more chance of being noted.
But tell me why this question anyway?
I know my blog more than paid for itself because it brought some clients that came via the blog. That is something you might want to keep in the back of your mind and ultimately that is partially answering your question, yes I made some money out of my blog.
Regards

Karel Frielink | | Thank you John. I fully agree with your view. I've been asked that question during an interview and was (and still am) curious how people make money out of blogging.
Kind regards,

CedReynolds.com, CITRMS - The Entrepreneurial Pastor | | Pretty new to the legal blogging world. So far it's been sharing testimonies of people who have benefited by having an attorney on retainer.
