Fuel Vs Shark Tooth Vodka - Fuel Wins by FarViews: 4994

Fuel wins all the way! Seagrams has this one.

Shark Tooth (ST) - It's Smirnoff (or rather Diageo's) answer to Fuel (Seagram's) for eating into Smirnoff's share in the Vodka market.

Fuel is basically a smooth vodka with that non alcoholic vapour after taste which Smirnoff is known for as compared to low end brands like White Mischief, Romanov, Alcazar, etc. It also costs only about (Rs.270) i.e. 60% of the cost of Smirnoff which is a killer selling proposition.

Fuel has quickly become a favourite of mine. So I was looking forward to what Diageo has in competition but Shark Tooth is really around Romanov quality and nowhere in competition with Fuel.

A very strange thing is that they have launched ST in 2 variants ST and ST Extra. ST being 10 bucks more than Fuel and ST Extra being about 75 bucks more.

I tried the ST Extra (2 large - 120ml) and it's sad. (I shifted to Fuel later) for the next peg. I shudder to imagine what the normal ST would be like.

And Romanov is vile! It's not even vodka; it's just flavoured ethanol. It's cheap in more ways than one. About the only way to have it is to dunk it into a cocktail with lots of mixer and/or flavoring.

OK, so does that mean I should stay away from all vodka-based cocktails next time I am in Shiok? :P

Madhu,

Shark Tooth is quite similar. Avoid.

Do you actually serve the lower brands at Shiok?

Seems to me it would make more sense to just go with Fuel, Fling, Vladivar and Smirnoff among the "domestic" vodkas.

No, we only have Smirnoff. (And at the moment, Smirnoff Vanilla Twist too.)

Eva, weren't you supposed to bring some CDs and come over? :)

I have some odd taste in vodka. Top two being
Absolut... any flavour
White Mischief... had with lime juice, pepper, salt and soda, well stirred
Used to love Smirnoff till I discovered White Mischief... which is much cheaper.
Hate Romanov and Alcazar
Haven't had Fuel... So CNB, if you want me to say good things about Fuel, better treat me at our next outing... We always have whisky... at least I do

I have changed from smirnoff to Fuel too for sometime. Its a good buy for taste and price as cnb said.

[Little off topic, but we are talking about vodkas]]

Recently I had two amazing polish vodkas. both are lesser known than the other famous polish vodka Belvedere (which is available in India but for quite a price)!

1. Zoladkowa gorzka vodka - amazing! this is the first time I tried this. This is taken as aperitif, kinda bitter sweet. (Actually translated from polish, it seems it is called bitter-bowel-vodka, lol) .. anyway, its made from grain, with infusion of orange and added herbs and spices (don't know what spices though). But its amazing, usually drunk straight, chiiled. and even frozen.

2. Zubrowka - one of my all time fav. Its also known as byson brand vodka (because myth is that a particular european byson is found only in the region where a special grass grows, and the grass is used to give the flavour to the vodka).

it is generally never drunk straight, (if not frozen), but there are some killer mixes: most famous being mixed with apple juice, which has got its own name "sharlotka". It is also taken with figs, caluha, lime, coffee liquer.

check out www.zubrowka.net for some interesting "bull" stories!
Sharlotka is a must must try.

Hi,

What are all these COMRADES doing drinking discussing Vodka?

I agree with Narendra. I love the taste of White mischief and Tonic. Vodka is my Saturday afternoon drink.

CNB I don't think vodka is good for you. Look what has happened to you (refer to your photo on this page).

Cheers,

Ian
