I've designed and promoted my website completely
on my own. I am broke right now but welcome any and all
comments.
I've only sold 1 item since starting my site last
month. OK here it is my website:

http://www.michelleshandmadeart.com/

Please help me with my website to start making a living.

Thank you,
Michelle Steen

Hi there,

First off, why do you have so much text on your home page? Why tell people what you have when you can show them? Trim down the text as much as possible: all I would say is that you're the artisan and you sell hand-made jewelry. Then put pictures of each type of product. These pictures need to link to the appropriate page, of course. All the text about polymer clay should be put on a separate page entitled "About polymer clay" or "How I create this jewelry".

The pale yellow background just doesn't work for me. The contrast between the photos and the background color makes the site look like a personal site, not a professional one. Use white instead.

By the way, there's no reason to center text on the web. Again, it makes a web site look less professional.

Take a look at Etsy (www.etsy.com) as an example of another site where they sell craftwork. I'm not saying that you should copy them slavishly (in fact you shouldn't do that :) but it might give you ideas about how to set up your own web site. You might also think about using them to publicize your work.

Good luck,
Sylvie
