Suddenly day before yesterday i got this urge to eat Maggie Noodles (normally i keep off it and see it is an insult to my cooking abilities and taste buds :-))). Chopped some beans / carrots, threw in some Jalapenos, half spoon of butter and topped it with some chilly flakes (all in addition to the masala that you get). It was amazing and took me straight back to my college days (when Maggie Noodles was a staple).

Please post different ways (read ingredients) in which you would make Maggie and i will try them at home.

cheers
Anand

We used to have maggi bonda in college. Same thing as vada of vada pav but instead of mashed potato filling it used to maggi with masala inside.

Used to be pretty nice! (Coffee shack - IIT Bombay)

I survived quite happily on instant noodles in the hostel...
my fav' version-

1 pkt maggi or top ramen noodles
1 slice cheese
1 onion, chopped
some garlic, chopped
tomato ketchup
goan sausages, peeled and chopped.

Fry the onions and garlic. Remove to a plate.
Boil water along with the spice mix from the noodles and the sausages in the same pan. let it cook for 5 minutes. Break up the noodles. Add them to the pan. Stir in the fried onions & garlic. Add the cheese slice and some ketchup. Stir well to mix. When the noodles are cooked...EAT!!! You can leave the gravy thin or wait for it to thicken. Be careful with the water when you start...too much water will take for ever to evaporate and the noodles turn to mush.

Why not try Wai-Wai noodles instead of Maggi - No Wai-Wai isn't paying me to promote their product :-) Just found that it sits more lightly on the stomach. Doesn't leave you with that bloated 'I've just eaten Maggi Noodles' feeling..Think of noodles as a staple and you can team it with anything - even a curry!

A couple of recipes I perfected years ago. :)
Version 1

• Make up some instant soup. Any soup. Doesn't matter. Follow instructions on pack.
• As the soup cooks, throw in a packet of Maggi noodles (making sure to remove them from the packet first), and a chopped up tomato.
• Simmer for two minutes. Don't let the noodles absorb all of the soup.
• Serve in soup dish. Or eat out of the pan.

Version 2
A later refinement, for when you have more time on your hands.

• Pick up some cooked kababs from the nearest roaside stall. Keep aside.
• Chop up a tomato or three.
• Pour yourself a drink. This is hard work, and you've earned it.
• Perhaps two onions too. And maybe a few pods or garlic.
• Dump the onions and garlic into a frying pan with a little oil. Add a salt to taste and BP levels. If you like your food spicey, you may want to chop in a chilly or sprinkle on some of that red masala powder, or whatever else comes to hand.
• Fry on a low flame till the onions begin to turn translucent. Remove from flame and take out most of the mix. Put the rest back on the flame and fry till the onions turn crisp. Set aside.
• Sip your drink. Go on, pour another.
• Take the lightly fried onion add the diced tomato, fry for a bit, stirring now and then.
• Throw in the kababs. It really doesn't matter what kind you've bought, but if it's a sheekh, you should cut it into smaller pieces. Cover the pan.
• Our another drink. Sip slowly.
• When your finely-tuned instincts (honed by past sad experiences) and bubbly noises tell you you've cooked all the germs to death, remove from flame.
• Put a few cups of water into a saucepan. Nope, not that. That's your drink.
• Boil water. Get packet of instant soup powder. Tomato for choice, but anything else will do. Follow the instructions on the pack for cooking time.
• If you have any dried herbs or stuff like that, toss some in.
• Break in packet(s) of Maggi Noodles.
• Let the noodle-soup mixture simmer for a couple of minutes.
• Dump the onion-tomato-kabab mix in. Stir for another minute.
• Let cool.
• Have another drink while you're waiting.
• Oops. One drink too many. The food's gone cold.
• Deeyamn! It tastes great cold too! You're good, Griffin.

Oops. Forgot one bit.

Remember the crispy brown chopped onions and garlic you set aside? Sprinkle that over the noodles just before you eat.

LOL Peter! That was tasty!!
I had a friend in college who was extremely gifted when it came to Maggi making.
Anyways, one of her original recipes was Maggi bhajiya (pakodas) -- a good way to recycle Maggi-gone-cold (which as everyone knows, is like eating shredded tyres).
For Maggi bhajiya, cook the noodles, bash ém up with some onion, coriander and chilli powder, sprinkle with besan and water, and deep fry little balls of the mixture.
Sounds a bit sad now, but back then, Maggi bhajiya with ketchup was the ultimate gourmet treat.
