However, so far I haven't seen one sunscreen that is actually made without a lot of chemicals that can be absorbed in the skin and cause more harm than good. Afterall, everything we put ON our skin goes INTO our body.
Then there is another group of people that say that it's not the sun that causes the cancer since the sun is very beneficial for our skin - it's healing. They say that 1) Sunscreen blocks vitamin D production, a nutrient that strongly prevents cancer, and 2) Sunscreen products almost always contain cancer-causing chemicals that are absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream where they cause severe DNA damage, leading to cancer.
The jury is still out on this issue. What is YOUR opinion?

The best website for this info is http://www.mercola.com. Dr. Mercola talks a lot about the dangers of putting sunscreen on your skin because pretty well all of them have cancer causing ingredients. One thing I know for sure is that when I spend a few hours out in the Florida sunshine I feel GREAT! There is so much talk about skin cancer from sun exposure but I think most of that really is coming from the companies that make the sunscreens to block the sun and I know that they don't care at all about anyone's health, all they care about is the money they make. They can definitely do harm.
However, the damage that overexposure to the sun can do is serious, especially the closer to the equator that you live. Here in Florida, for example, the rays of the sun are very intense compared to where I grew up 1000 north of here.
For those of you who would like a great sunscreen that is natural and without the harmful chemicals, go to http://www.TahitianNoni.com/synergizer and click on "body care - bath and body". We have a spf 30 sunscreen that is great and contains the powerful proven benefits of the original Tahitian Noni. This is a water-resistant sunscreen that uses Noni Seed Oil and other botanicals to hydrate your skin and protect it from free radicals, leaving you to enjoy the outdoors with longwearing UV protection. Perfect for the whole family.

Jeremiah Charles

Hello,
There are natural products that work well on your skin for sunscreen protection. I am a manufacturer of Natural Products for Pet Care and make my own Organic Sunscreen SPF 30+ that is suitable for people too. The sunscreen contains Natural Ingredients like Cinnamon leaf extract, Aloe Vera Gel, Green Tea and Zinc Oxide. My preservative is derived from plant sources, so my products only has a shelf life of two years.
You can see my Aubrey Rose sunscreen on www.doggylove.com.au along with some other of my products.
