Here in Alabama, Fall has started. It is beginning to cool off, finally. Crops are being harvested, or are already in.
At this time of year we start to think of Holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. Family and Friends Gathering to share Special Times.
Some of my favorite memories are the Big Family Dinners.
You probably have holiday traditions that are different from mine and maybe a few that are similar.
It is interesting to hear how others celebrate these traditional gatherings. So please share your favorite “Secret” family recipes and traditions with us.
Chuck Bartok was talking about the fall of the year and describing Pumpkin Soup served in a hollowed out Pumpkin shell. I have never tasted Pumpkin Soup, but he was describing it so well to me, I can almost smell and taste it.
My favorite thing to cook at this time is Pumpkin Bread.
I will share my recipe with you …..This one was given to me many years ago my my High School Best Friend, JoAn Mallonee, now Davis.
Pumpkin Bread
3 cups sugar 1 cup corn oil 4 eggs 1 can (1 lb) Pumpkin 3 ½ cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 2 tsp salt 2 tsp soda ½ tsp cloves 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp allspice 2/3 cup water
Mix all ingredients together and fill loaf pans ½ full.
Tip: save soup or vegetable cans and use them to bake the Pumpkin Bread. Fill the cans ½ full. This makes it pretty to serve and makes nice gifts.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the post.

Home Grown Tomatoes are a totally different vegetable or
fruit from the tomatoes you get at the grocery. You can
eat a vine ripened tomato like you would an apple. Yummy.
We know about Truck Farming, Jim up until the last two years had about 3 acres and an old tractor. He grew just
about anything you can think of and people would buy from
the back of his truck. Nice extra money, and great eating.
Sure miss the fresh veggies.
