Use the Powerful Principle of Gratitude
to Attract What You Don’t Yet Have

Gratitude Workshop Here on the Network

FFTP Members,

The "attitude of gratitude" is one of the greatest – perhaps THE greatest – spiritual principle that can be applied to attain happiness, inner peace, health and financial prosperity. It is easy to be grateful for what you already have. But can you be grateful for what you don’t yet see? Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1

For the next five days, during this week prior to US Thanksgiving, I will lead a discussion right here in this thread on how gratitude is your precursor to the evidence of ‘things not seen” and how you can acquire gratitude when there are appearances to the contrary. You will learn an aspect of gratitude that is not commonly known – using the powerful principle of gratitude to attract what you don’t already have. If you apply it, it will change your circumstances dramatically, often at an astounding speed.

To those of you who attended my Gratitude Call in 2004, or who have purchased the Audio Program of the call, these ideas will be familiar. This workshop is based on the same principles.

But in my opinion, we cannot be reminded enough about the topic.

Friday

FFTP members, let’s prepare our spirits for the upcoming holiday week and even better, let’s learn to give gratitude a permanent home in our spirits every day of the year. Our attention to this one principle can truly be life changing. In my opinion, we cannot be reminded about it enough…

To create the mood for our topic of Gratitude this week, please take a few moments to quietly contemplate and make a list of ten things in your life for which you feel grateful. Go ahead, stop and make that list now.

Next, think of one or two things in your life that you are NOT grateful for at the moment. A challenge, issue or condition that you would like to change or something missing that you would like to create. This week, we will be discussing how to use gratitude as a powerful force for turning those situations around.

If you feel like sharing your list, please do.

Do this now before you scroll down to the next post…

Friday (Part 2)

A few years ago, I received the photo below of this man when it was included in a mailing for donations for DAV (Disabled Veterans of America). I was so taken and inspired by Jim's picture that I had to save it. It brought so much into perspective when I realized how easy it was to complain about things in our lives when in reality we have so much to be grateful for.

Jim wasn't born this way. He served in Vietnam. His note that came with the photo was (in part):

"I thought I lost everything in Vietnam, but thanks to the DAV, my life was turned around..."

If this man can turn his life around, find his peace and express gratitude for what he has in life, then shouldn't it be that much easier for us to take our gratitude consciousness to another level?

After seeing Jim's photo below, make another list of TEN MORE things you have in life for which to be grateful.

"What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it - would you be likely to give them another? Life is the same way. In order to attract more of the blessings that life has to offer, you must truly appreciate what you already have."

~ Ralph Marston

In gratitude,

Saturday

The purpose of our topic this week is to become spiritually centered and to focus on spiritual principles. I want to first express one of the items on my gratitude list - my gratitude to all of you for joining me in this gratitude workshop. I consider it an enormous blessing to be given the opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences with you and to become a better teacher by learning from you.

We are here to discuss gratitude, one of the greatest prosperity principles that can be applied to every part of our lives. Only we’re not just going to talk about the philosophical aspect of gratitude. I’m going to address gratitude from a practical standpoint. I am going to help you understand the relationship of gratitude to "affirmative prayer," which is actually scientific prayer, and I will explain why.

We all know how to feel grateful for the blessings we have in life. But I want to teach you how you can feel grateful for those things you don’t have and don’t see yet and as a result, draw them to you. How can you acquire gratitude when there are appearances to the contrary? You’ll learn how.

I am not a Biblical scholar and but there are wonderful phrases and scriptures that have reached out to me over the years that support these Universal laws that we are studying. One of them is this one:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

~ Hebrews 11:1

You are going to learn how to create the "substance of things hoped for" and the "evidence of things not seen."

Here is what we are covering:

1. Summary of Basic Mental Principles

First I am going to give you a summary of basic mental principles that lead to our discussion of gratitude. I am going to share my knowledge of how the principle of gratitude works when we align it with what we call "affirmative prayer." By using this principle, you can magnetize your good to you and turn your negative situations around dramatically.

2. My Own Story of Gratitude

Before our study, I would like to share with you my own story of when I was held up at gunpoint on Christmas Day that resulted in an experience that was against all odds. This was one of my greatest lessons about the power of the gratitude principle. Here is the link to that story segment, which is now a chapter in my entrepreneurial memoir. If you haven’t already read it, you can read it here in minutes at your convenience A Holiday Story: Against All Odds

3. Another Perspective

To create the mood for our theme of gratitude, I asked you to make a list of 10 things in your life that you are grateful for. I came across an anonymous quote recently that offers another perspective – humorous, but at the same time quite profound. It certainly made me think:

"If you can't be thankful for what you receive, be thankful for what you escape."

4. Your Challenge

Next, I asked you to think of 1 or 2 things in your life that you are NOT grateful for at the moment - a challenge, issue or condition that you would like to change or something missing that you would like to create. If you don’t mind sharing your situation openly at some point this week, I would like to show you how to turn around the specific situation that you listed and use it as an example for the other members.

5. Further Inspiration for Gratitude

Finally, I shared with you the photo of Jim, the Vietnam veteran who lost both his legs and one arm, and yet was able to turn his life around and find peace and purpose. And I asked you then to make another list of 10 MORE things in life you have to be grateful for. Was that easier after seeing Jim’s photo and spirit?

"I had the blues because I had no shoes until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet."

~ Denis Waitley

I encourage you to ask questions at any time to help in your understanding of our topic. Your comments and questions will help others to understand this important but less commonly known application of the gratitude principle.

Now that you’re in the gratitude mood, let’s get on with the heart of the matter :-) Tune in again on Sunday.

Hi Marilyn,

My 2 challenges are:

1- I transfered to the library at the school I work at and it was not what I thought it was. Would like to have my previous position as secretary in the school office back.

2- Would like to have more financial prosperity.

By the way Marilyn, Thank you for this gratitude workshop.

The Universe

The Universe as we know it, see it and experience it, is not all there is. The Universe is always in motion – it is a vibrating, pulsating, resonating, magnetizing force and at the molecular level everything is in motion. It is pure energy.

What we are talking about here is the pure formless substance of the Universe – we can think of this in spiritual terms as God, Higher Power, Spirit or the Universe, or address it mentally as Infinite Intelligence, Universal Mind. Or we can take a giant leap into the area of quantum physics, where it is known as the field of all possibilities.

This Power - however you conceive it - is the source of everything we desire. It is awaiting our recognition and will create, attract, guide us to inspired action, magnetize and mold itself to whatever form we desire if we align ourselves with it through certain laws – called Universal laws.

The Laws

What are these laws? Well, we know that there are laws of physics, laws of chemistry, laws of mathematics. But most people are not aware of the mental and spiritual laws that govern our existence. Or you may know something about them but don’t know how to relate to them or how to use them.

So how do we know these laws exist or that this Universe or Power exists (aside from any intuitive feeling that it does or because Marilyn says it does)? We know because of its responsiveness – by the results we experience when we align ourselves with it. And I can tell you from my own personal experience, that once you became aware of the response of this Universal Presence, you will never be the same. You will feel a love and a connectedness and a sense of security that is greater than anything you have felt on an earthly level.

So how do we align ourselves with it? We connect with this Power, this creative force of the Universe, within, through the channel of our subconscious minds – through our thoughts and our feelings. The subconscious mind is the most fantastic computer you could ever imagine. It keeps our heart beating, our lungs breathing, and has perfect memory of every cell in our body. It has also recorded and stored everything that we have ever heard, said, felt, and experienced. Unfortunately, that includes all of those faulty beliefs and negative patterns from others that we have acquired from the time we were very young through our lifetime.

Our thoughts and our feelings, our deepest beliefs are the key to connecting with the Power that responds to our desires. But first we must break through and overcome the negative thought patterns and beliefs that we have acquired since childhood.

Dominant Thought

The subconscious mind does not like to change and will create resistance. But there are techniques and methods for influencing the subconscious in a way that does not create argument. I call this “friendly persuasion”. We gently shift the consciousness to create a new dominant thought in the mind.

THAT IS THE KEY. The DOMINANT thought.

The dominant thought in our conscious and our subconscious is what determines our circumstances. So we must shift our consciousness to a new dominant thought – a new awareness. When we do so, we then open ourselves to the influence of the creative power of the universe – to what I call our “invisible means of support”.

Now there is another aspect of mind that we must understand fully in order to create what we want. And by the way, this is all relating to our topic this week. Just follow my thoughts here and it will all make sense.

There Is Only NOW

There is only one reason you do not have what you want now. You do not have what you want because your consciousness is filled with the thought of not having what you want. As long as the thought of not having remains in your mind, you will continue to not have. So if you accept this premise, then the way to have what you want is to change your consciousness to the thought and feeling of having what you want.

The reason you have not had the prosperity you desire is because somewhere along the way you have accepted as fact the idea that you are not prosperous. And everything that happens seems to support that fact and prove that you are right, doesn’t it? Well, the fact is that everything that happens in your outer world is mirroring to you exactly what you have accepted in your inner world. Those circumstances are reflecting back to you what you believe at this moment.

This is the reality: As long as you continue to believe the same fact in the present moment, conditions will remain exactly the same, you will continue to have the same experiences.

The subconscious mind will create for us and attract to us those circumstances that it accepts to be true in the present moment. That is its nature. It’s compulsive. Our job is to condition our subconscious mind to accept what we want as if it’s an existing reality. Tomorrow never comes. It is always the present moment or now in consciousness. When what we call later or tomorrow arrives, it will actually still be the present moment. It is always NOW. And what we are thinking and feeling NOW is what determines our future, its outcomes and experiences. We create that future right this moment.

I think that’s plenty for you to assimilate and think about for today…especially for those of you who are new and have not been exposed to my teachings.

Tomorrow, we are going to zero in on Gratitude itself and you will understand how your understanding of these mental laws will help you to apply the Gratitude principle for powerful results.

Marilyn, I was fascinated by your Christmas/$60,000 check story and must say I felt anxiety on your behalf just reading it.

That police officer was right--an old boyfriend and friends were mugged by two teens with guns. When he didn't move quickly enough for the mugger's liking, the mugger grabbed for his wallet and my boyfriend slapped his hand away and actually said "you can have the money, but you can't have the wallet." The mugger hit him over the head with the gun; thankfully, he merely needed stitches rather than having a bullet removed, but yikes!

Beyond this, I'm very intrigued by how your statement "As long as the thought of not having remains in your mind, you will continue to not have." applies to having things you really DON'T want. It seems that if your thoughts concentrate on the negative attribute you have, you'll continue to attract it, but I'm eager to hear how you can circumvent that.

It was actually hard for me to come up with more than one thing for which I'm truly NOT thankful, but the one I've got on my list is a doozy. I'm hesistant to provide too much information, but suffice it to say, it's a health condition from which I have not yet seen relief.

I'm eager to know, when faced with undeniable truths (i.e., symptoms like a Parkinson's patient's tremors), particularly when one must thinkingly perform actions (i.e., a diabetic needing to test blood or take insulin) in response to those symptoms, how we can eliminate the thoughts that attract more of the negative? If we perform the requisite acts which, in and of themselves, force us to acknowledge the problem, how do we prevent that "negative" thinking from further attracting more of the problem?

(I hope my question isn't too abstract. I'm sure it will be covered in your future explanations.)

Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for the Gratitude Workshop.

"I had the blues because I had no shoes until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet." ~ Denis Waitley

Wow! This quote is very similar to something that happened to me. A few years ago I was at a bike race all day (supporting my partner who is a mountain biker). By the end of the day I was tired and not wanting to be there. I started to head back to the car that was about a mile a way. My feet were hurting so bad. I was just walking and feeling sorry for myself when a very friendly man came up to me and smiled and started chatting about the bike race and how much fun he was having watching it, how great it was to be outside, what a lovely day it was, etc... He was walking with crutches and when I looked down I realized he only had one foot....

As for the one thing I am not thankful for it is a tense relationship with two family members. With Thanksgiving coming up we are all going to be together. These people don't particularly want to do Thanksgiving with us but considering we have kids in common... we are going to do Thanksgiving together. I would like to heal my relationship with this couple so we can go from cold polite conversations to authentic warm friendly ones.

Members,

Oop! I see that I have created some confusion with my posts and I will do my best to explain...and please accept my apology for my intention not being clear.

In the first day's post, I wrote the following:

"To create the mood for our topic of Gratitude this week, please take a few moments to quietly contemplate and make a list of ten things in your life for which you feel grateful. Go ahead, stop and make that list now.

Next, think of one or two things in your life that you are NOT grateful for at the moment. A challenge, issue or condition that you would like to change or something missing that you would like to create. This week, we will be discussing how to use gratitude as a powerful force for turning those situations around.

If you feel like sharing your list, please do."

If you read this carefully, the "list" referred to the ten things for which you feel grateful (first paragraph).

In the next paragraph, I said to "think" of a couple of things for which you were not grateful. This was not part of the "list"...this was a separate item for which I wanted you to apply the week's lessons on your own.

When I mentioned sharing your "list," I literally meant the list of 10 things. I felt that if some members shared their lists, others would be reminded of the many blessings they take for granted or overlook.

I did not intend for any of you to post your challenges for me to address. We have about 1000 members on this network. So you see, it would be completely impractical for me to suggest that any number of members post challenges for me to personally address.

I see now that I should have put the sentence about sharing your list after the first paragraph. Again, I apologize if this is what confused you.

So...my intention is for you to take the lessons I am sharing om this thread and apply them to your challenges. After all, I cannot feel gratitude for you. You need to summon up that feeling yourself. And I am giving you all the information that you need to do that.

In Saturday's segment, I wrote:

"I encourage you to ask questions at any time to help in your understanding of our topic. Your comments and questions will help others to understand..."

Again, I was not asking anyone to post their challenges. I was encouraging questions and comments about the process itself - in other words, something that you may not understand in these lessons.

Julie is the only one who came up with a question about the process (about maintaining "having" thoughts despite appearances). I will be addressing that question for the benefit of everyone.

On to Monday's new segment...

Monday

Gratitude

Let me ask you this. If you were in possession of your desired good, what else would you be feeling besides your joy or security in having what you want? If suddenly you experienced a “windfall” or found the right job or finally had that new car or were free of your physical ailment, what emotion would fill your consciousness? Gratitude.

If the subconscious responds and acts on what we feel in the present moment, then in order to feel like we already have what we want, what feeling would we need to create? Gratitude.

By giving thanks, we acknowledge that we are receiving our good now or that we have already received it and we are grateful. So to create this feeling of being grateful, we use gratitude in our words and affirmations. We are expressing our feeling of gratitude for the good that we have already received, even before we actually receive it. We think of it as and feel it to be an accomplished fact. We are grateful.

Gratitude is one of the surest ways to bring your desires into the present moment. It is the magnet that reaches out into Universal Mind and pulls our good to us. It is our bridge between our desire and its manifestation. Gratitude is the umbilical cord that connects us to our Universal parent. If you will replace any doubtful thoughts or begging prayers with a heart full of gratitude, you will be thrilled at how fast you’ll learn to manifest your desires.

"Faith is to believe what you do not see and the reward of this faith is to see what you believe."

~ St.Augustine

Affirmations/Affirmative Prayer

It is my intuitive guess that probably 80% or more of the people who use affirmations do not get results. And I will explain why.

If there is a mindset or pattern of lack established in the subconscious mind and you were to apply the types of affirmations that are generally recommended, here is what happens:

Your subconscious mind has an established pattern of "lack." You use an affirmation such as "I am wealthy" or "I am prosperous."

Do you know what happens? Your subconscious knows you are lying and resists, your entire essence feels like you are lying, you look around at appearances and you say, "Yeah, right. Who am I kidding?" So now, what are you thinking about? What are you focused on? YOU ARE NOW FOCUSED MORE ON "LACK!" And because you are now focused on lack, circumstances will be perpetuated or may even get worse. It reminds me of "Don't think of a white elephant!"

You see, the subconscious mind does not like change (you know that from trying to break a habit). That part of the mind does not reason, it just accepts input as an order. Once it accepts a thought pattern and establishes a mindset, it will resist any effort to change it. So the answer lies in not creating an argument or resistance in the subconscious mind.

Ah…Affirmations of Gratitude

One of the most effective ways to use affirmations is to phrase them from a standpoint of gratitude. It is a gentle and non-resistant form of affirmative prayer that does not create resistance in the subconscious. The feeling of gratitude that wells up counteracts any doubts or fear thoughts.

Let me give you some examples of affirmations of gratitude:

I give thanks for wonderful new clients coming to my business now.

Thank you, Universe, for my wonderful romantic relationship.

In the perfect mind of the Universe, financial prosperity is mine already and I give thanks that so it is.

I am grateful for the quick and immediate solution to this situation now.

Thank you, Father, for my wealth. Thank you, Father, for my health.

So, when we use gratitude in our affirmations, what we are really doing is giving thanks for gifts we are already receiving or have already received. Remember that the subconscious responds to what is happening now. So by giving thanks, we acknowledge that we are receiving our good now and we are grateful. I cannot stress enough the importance of feeling that what we want is already existing for us. Gratitude in our affirmations brings our consciousness to that level.

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

~ Matthew 21:22

I give thanks for a quick and substantial increase in my financial income now.

I give thanks that harmony and peace prevail in my relationship with so and so.

Gratitude Attracts More

An "attitude of gratitude" and the appreciation for the gifts we receive from the Universe open the channels for more good to be received. The more gratitude we feel, the more we attract to be grateful for. What we focus on increases and expands. The more we complain, the more we will attract to complain about. The more we express our gratitude, the more we are giving the subconscious and Universal Mind the message that we have much to be grateful for, and we keep attracting more.

"Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts
more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life."

~ Christiane Northrup

The Simplest Gratitude Prayer

"If the only prayer you say in your life is "thank you," that would suffice."

~ Christian mystic Meister Eckhart

That simple prayer has turned situations around for me miraculously in my life. There are times when I am out of words and I just reach out with my heart to my Source and I simply say, "Thank you. Thank you." I will drop off to sleep with those words. I will murmur those words during the day.

It is not just the words we use in prayer, it’s the feeling from our heart center. With a heartfelt "thank you," fear and anxiety and doubt will dissipate.

My Husband, our beautiful home, to be back in Europe, our move in harmony, that our dog adjusted so(too) well, that I found a part time job, for my great little car, how people respond to my positive attitude, to see seasons again, a walk in the fields -especially when it's cold, my friends, my family, my little business on the side, my health, one living parent, my garden , to watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset ...and so much more

I don't wanna take up all your space Marilyn :)

What a beautiful thing to see your posts transformed into the lists of current blessings that you are grateful for!
That's exactly what I felt would light up this thread.

Do you see how prosperous you already are?? Bringing those things to your attention and focusing your gratitude on them will create more and more to be grateful for.

If you can focus the same gratitude attention on those challenges, the blessing seeds in those challenges will begin to sprout. Gratitude is your fertilizer.

I am hoping that the information shared this week has started to "gel" in your mind and that today's lesson segment shows you how to apply gratitude to those challenges. I may offer a few more gratitude affirmations that can be applied specifically to some of your posts.

More later...

~ Marilyn

My 2 challenges that I am currently dealing with are the reinstating of my Social Security Benefits, and also establishing a friendship with a ladyfriend. Someone with whom I can talk too, do things with, share ideas, ect.

Marilyn,
Thank you for all these wonderful reminders. It's amazing how far a little gratitude goes. The one thing I was not so grateful for has already taken a turn for the better. Thank you!

Commentary

For those of you who have shared your current challenges and for all the readers who are thinking of your own challenges.

First, let me tell you that these situations are excellent opportunities to prove the workings of these profound (and thankfully no longer esoteric) laws. You can put the gratitude principle to the test.

I hope that this workshop helps all who read it to have a better understanding of how the mental laws work and that it has given you clues as to what you can begin to do to change your circumstances.

Do you understand that your subconscious acceptance of those "not having" ideas feeds those ideas and keeps them in place? Like birds returning to a feeder, the very conditions that you don't want are being constantly nourished by your current thoughts.

So, your job now is to create new dominant thoughts in your mind - the thought of HAVING what you desire. And most importantly, the thought of HAVING peace of mind.

Dr. Joseph Murphy, a great teacher, used to say that if you have peace of mind and peace of heart, you will always have all the money you need.

In the same way that gratitude helped me to retrieve that huge client's check that should have been thrown in a dumpster by a drugged out robber, gratitude can attract to you, your perfect solutions.

In the mentoring part of my Feel Free to Prosper program, I state that when we are faced with problems, especially intense challenges, it is a good thing to vent our feelings and reach out for support. We shouldn't suppress our feelings - that's counter-productive. We should release our concerns and talk it out with a spouse, friend or mentor. We might even have a good cry...it's very therapeutic and helps us release the pent up emotions so that we become "open."

But what we do next is what separates the mass-mind thinkers from the prosperity thinkers - the girls from the women, the boys from the men, so to speak :-)

Once we have vented our thoughts and feelings, we have created a "vacuum" in our consciousness. And since nature abhors a vacuum, something will rush in to fill it. WE will determine what that something is.

We must stop and make a big decision. The prosperity thinker will not "entertain" (keep attention on) the problem. The prosperity thinker makes a firm decision to focus completely on the solution and thus invite the solution to present itself. The solution can only get through if we are open and receptive to all positive, healing possibilities. It cannot get through if we persist on dwelling on the problem. We must create a dominant thought of the solution. We don't know what the solution is, we just know that it exists for us and our loved ones.

Einstein stated it so eloquently:

Problems cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness that created them.

So now we shift our focus to solutions. And what is the stuff that solutions are made of?

• Prayer (the affirmative kind, not the begging, beseeching kind)

• Words and affirmations of healing, of the desired result

• Feelings of peace, relief, joy and GRATITUDE for the answered prayer.

Business Challenges and Gratitude

I recalled a student who posted on the network here around 2004 after I conducted my Gratitude Call. (Now available as an audio program - see link below)

This women's post relates how gratitude immediately impacted her business, which was real estate. She was established in her business, but hadn't had any "decent offers" in months and her business was traditionally at a standstill that time of year. I decided to search the archives and copy her post here, to inspire you and to provide a more specific example of applying gratitude to business. I always feel that examples of how my students use my teachings is more important that just telling you my own personal results.

Again, there are many ways to revive your business using prosperity principles, but gratitude is surely one of the most potent and quickest principles to apply to turn any situation around, including your business.

I have posted here story below. Note how she acquired the art of "thanking in advance..." You can read her original post here on the network.

Greetings Prosperous Networkers!

The following is a message I sent to Marilyn just before Christmas, after listening to her wonderful Gratitude Call, which she graciously shares for anyone - just click on the links above. If you haven't listened to the call, yet - please take the time to do so, today - it will make a world of difference in your life. Thanks, Marilyn and those who participated in the call......

(December 22)

Hello Marilyn -

I wanted to Thank You for sharing the Holiday Gratitude Calls. I listened to those intently, Sunday night, and thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts, and the thoughts of those who participated.

I introduced Gratitude into my life last year, and it has made a world of difference in my business success, and day to day living. Most of the Gratitude has been in the form of actions, gestures, here and there - but listening to your thoughts and ideas - I realized that I don't have the Gratitude running through my head as often as I need to. And I haven't been "Thanking" in Advance. I love that concept. On Monday, I started "Thanking" in Advance. I'm a Realtor, and I had a great year - and pretty much wrapped the year up, with a smile on my face, counted my blessings, looking forward to the next year - but on Monday I went ahead and "Thanked" (in my head) my current clients, who are a very nice bunch (and that is not always the case), thanked the other Realtors who would be showing my properties, and thanked the future Buyers who would be writing offers on the properties.

It's 4 days before Christmas, and I had 3 offers on 3 different properties come in today. That never happens in our market, which is a mediocre market - and certainly doesn't happen at this time of year. First of all - I was amazed that Realtors were still out showing properties this week - they usually hang it up a week before Christmas, and call it a year. But I had "Thanked" them in advance on Monday. All 3 offers were Good Offers. I haven't had a decent offer handed to me in months - they always low ball. But I had "Thanked" the Buyers in advance on Monday. All 3 Sellers said AOK to each offer, with no unreasonable, greedy demands. That rarely happens. But I had "Thanked" my Sellers in advance on Monday.

There's a whole lot of "Thanking" going on here tonight - and will be again tomorrow, and the next day. Thank You so much. I look forward to learning more.......

P.S. Please take the time to listen to this call - and not only "Listen" - but "Apply" the message. I'll follow up with a post about how it is continuing to make a difference.

Enjoy your Weekend!

Mac

[End of Mac's post]

So, FFTP members, have you gotten a pretty good idea of what this concept is all about now? Do you see the difference between expressing gratitude for what we have and applying it to create what we DON'T yet have?

Are you having any "Ah Hahs" about this as it relates to your own life?

Do you see that this principle doesn't just rely on words and affirmations (although they are very effective tools) - that what is most important are the feelings of gratitude that you generate?

The Gratitude Call

My Gratitude Call Audio Program, the recording of that 2004 call, is an excellent program to have or to give as a gift this time of year. It’s a downloadable 3-hour expanded version of what I have shared this week, with a lot of interaction. I believe there is always a great benefit and added dimension to hearing me speak about these concepts in addition to the written word.

Here are the details and instructions if you would like to purchase this valuable recording for yourself or for someone else. It's $47 and I believe that's a great value.

Tuesday (Part 2)

Creating Miracles

As we bring the topic to a close, I hope that its purpose will stay with you indefinitely. Feel free to add any comments to this thread.

I hope the samples of gratitude affirmations I shared this week will provide a guideline to compose your own.

The ones posted may be tweaked to feel just right for you. Florence Scovil Shinn, the great New Thought teacher, said that the affirmation that "clicks" with you is the one that will be effective...but remember that the feeling of gratitude is more important than words alone. However, the words can bring us there.

At the end of each Feel Free to Prosper lesson, there is "Homework." One of the homework items at the end of Lesson One is the following...

"Keep notes or a journal and write down every night all the good things that happened to you that day. Make a note of all income but pay particular attention to unexpected income. This learning process will open the channels for income and opportunities to flow to you from sometimes very surprising sources. When an opportunity or job appears, even if you will actually be paid a bit later, still write that entry as unexpected income. We will learn about gratitude in a later lesson, but for now, give thanks to the Universe for all of the good that has come to you that day."

I stongly recommend that you do this. You don't have to do a lot of writing. Just make a simple list of the good things that happened that day. By doing this, you are acknowledging and thanking the Universe for your blessings, and more will surely come.

Let's all go create our gratitude miracles...and a year of "thanks givings."

I got a newsletter from The Secret site and their message fits perfectly with this workshop. An excerpt:

"The only thing standing between you, happiness, and the life of your dreams, are two words...

THANK YOU"

"Watch what happens in your life when you practice gratitude every single day and in every single moment and in every opportunity that you can. Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful."

I am grateful for ryze, for this network and for Marilyn's knowledge. I am grateful for the wonderful people in my life; grateful for their love & support.

Marilyn, thank you for this workshop and I hope you will consider publishing this information along with so many other treasures that you've shared with us so far.

Julie had asked earlier...

"I'm eager to know, when faced with undeniable truths (i.e., symptoms like a Parkinson's patient's tremors), particularly when one must thinkingly perform actions (i.e., a diabetic needing to test blood or take insulin) in response to those symptoms, how we can eliminate the thoughts that attract more of the negative? If we perform the requisite acts which, in and of themselves, force us to acknowledge the problem, how do we prevent that "negative" thinking from further attracting more of the problem?

(I hope my question isn't too abstract. I'm sure it will be covered in your future explanations.)"

I felt that the subject of physical health and bodily conditions was worth it's own thread here on the network, so I removed it from this Gratitude topic and placed it here.

http://www.ryze.com/posttopic.php?topicid=911264&confid=481

Of course, the gratitude principle certainly applies, but there is a lot of other information I wanted to share and highlight on its own.

Joyce, thank you for joining us and sharing your heartfelt gratitude list.

Irina, you have telepathically tuned into my thoughts. I had considered asking the members reading this if they felt this Workshop would make a good E-book to add to my offerings, even though I already have the Gratitude Call on the same subject. For some reason, I decided not to post that, but you answered anyway!!

Wishing all of you a loving, peaceful Thanksgiving, whether you are in the US or not! We are all together in Spirit and should use any excuse to celebrate together in Spirit.

Dear Marilyn,

Thank you for the wonderful teachings. I have been practising Gratitude for the past two weeks and miraculously things are changing.

The business proposal which was rejected in one area is under process in another area and should go through soon. If that doesn't work there is another town closeby which will definitely accept our application.

My personal life has blossomed. My relationship has grown stronger and my partner and I have grown so much closer because I have been able to open up and express my gratitude.

I wake up every morning with words of gratitude running through my head for everything.

In gratitude for your wonderful teaching and your generosity.

Mohini
