Money and Work as posed by me on the Imagekind Forum today!Views: 2461
Nov 23, 2007 6:49 amMoney and Work as posed by me on the Imagekind Forum today!#

Walter Paul Bebirian
What is important is to know what you would want the money for - what would you use to purchase with that money - many times it is possible to have that object service or experience without spending one penny - and therein lies the key to avoiding spending an entire lifetime chasing after accomplishing the earning of money when that which you were after in the first place you possessed first off -

For many people, for example, owning a beautiful piece of artwork might be something that they would look to own and have hanging on their walls - do any of you here that are members of Imagekind value your own work such that if you think about it you might pay significant amounts of money to decorate you homes with that artwork no matter the cost - in order to inspire and encourage yourself in some other endeavor of work?
Has there been any time in your life when you have personally gone into an art gallery anywhere in the world and liked a piece of art so much so that you immediately went ahead and purchased that piece of art work without regard for it's price- and then utilized that piece as an inspiration to you for creating art work or for energy in some other endeavor which you deem worthwhile?

Or has there been one particular image which you yourself feel that is significantly important a piece of your own work that you have spent a significant amount of money printing and framing that image or those images in order to have them properly displayed in our own environment for you to really live with as you become inspired by the energy with which that image or those images were created with?

Do you realize that if you valued even one of your own pieces as much as you might appreciate a piece in a gallery priced at a million dollars that you are as wealthy as a person who is a millionaire who would want one of your pieces but did not have the skills to create such a work of art themselves? - Can you see this as a reason for raising the prices of your work from $100.00 or $1,000.00 to $1,000,000.00? - If not - think of something that you want - perhaps a beautiful home in a nice area - a car - a collection of books - a pool in your home - a tennis court - a brand new computer with which to create more of your own work even - meals in nice restaurants - travel throughout the country or the world and nice clothes to wear - total all of this up and then come up with a figure - look at it and realize that people performing other work are earning money enough to afford these things in their lives and that your work must provide these things that you want in your life otherwise you will not have enough motivation, inspiration and drive to continue to work enough to obtain the other things which you will want during your lifetime to live a happy and fulfilled life - Of course if you have pursued art as a career till this point in time it might be that you are able to create images well enough so that the comments and then the payments that you receive along the way till this point in time reinforce your continuing your endeavors to make this your career and so that is why you are here, but if you have not worked enough at your own creations such that you are as inspired by your own work as much as you are by anyone else's then perhaps you are misplacing your efforts and might do well pursuing some other form of work in order to earn sufficient amounts of money to purchase the art that you would like to own and have in your possession along with other necessities and pleasures in this life - Of course all of this is my opinion and you may have a different idea or ideas as to the relationship between money and your own personal creations of art, however just how long can you be motivated by what you are currently motivated by without a substantial payoff - either in the fact of owning your own work to have it hanging in your personal environment or in the form of money as an exchange for other people to own such work and benefit from its presence in their own personal environment -

Another thing to consider in this direction of the overall picture is that unless you have a full-time job working for some person or company or you are receiving grant money to create your artwork - then your responsibility to yourself and others with whom you are personally involved is to run your business as a business and not as a charity - or as a hobby - this requires a very different set of skills and much more energy and thought placed on each aspect of your time and efforts and how much of each is required in order for you to earn a the standard of living to which you motivated towards and to which you aspire to!

There is a definite reason that the pages here in Imagekind are where your images are placed in groups are labeled as galleries for a gallery is defined as a room or building for the display or sale of works of art. - if the person entering your gallery is simply their for viewing then that is fine - your work being viewed by the public can either be the start of a long relationship of inspiration and admiration for your work or it can also develop into the much deeper relationship between artist and collector and/or investor - but in either case it may be prudent in either case to be able to secure a name and address for each and every viewer of any and all images in your gallery - this may somehow be facilitated by imagekind with a sign in process so that each artist has a record and way of communicating with any of the visitors to his or her gallery in order to let them know of new exhibits and perhaps new series or styles of work - of course might be considered to be set up only on a voluntary bases for each visitor to be able to choose whether to divulge this information or not - but for those who definitely are interested in a specific artist's work it would definitely be a substantially valuable service to offer them the opportunity to be placed on a an e-mailing list -

In the same line of thinking - considering those who have indicated that they are fans of one artist or another - it would be prudent for there to be a way of sending a mass message to all of those individuals who are a fan of one particular artist or another - since this is the beginning of a means of building a guest list of those who have stopped by a person's gallery or galleries and has been willing to indicate that they are in some way an admirer of or supporter of a particular artist - the guest book list could perhaps be built up from this beginning form of a list - perhaps the public guest list will have to be without an icon image though - or of Imagekind goes further and teams up with such social networks as facebook or myspace where individuals have icons for themselves then those individuals visiting an imagekind member's gallery could then indicate their visit in a guest book while leaving their very own icon as well -

by the same token - it might also be a help to the artist which an individual has indicated that they are a fan of to have an icon of those artists that the individual is a fan of to have an icon with a link to the page of profile page of the artist to allow friends of the individual fan who have stopped by the myspace area to be introduced and to become acquainted with the artist directly - something in the way that there exists a friends list on the RYZE networking system -

breaking into or a great number of imagekind artists taking part in membership of a social network such as RYZE or myspace or ojeez of facebook can do a great deal of good towards introducing the work of every one of the member artists of Imagekind as does any effort that any individual artist does to market their own work through any of the many different forms of media that exist either on or off line -

As an example I offer a current list of names of people who are indicated as my friends on RYZE and with whom anyone who joined RYZE and friended up with me there would be able to communicate through links that are connected to each person's name on this list:

What is interesting is that many of these people listed above have only seen a few images on my RYZE page and have not gone farther into viewing the images in either my main gallery on my main web site [575488trillion.com] or my Imagekind galleries which are accessible through RYZE both on my RYZE page or in my signature links which show up wherever I post on RYZE _ Of course the click through amount or number to these links may increase if I am able to spend more time posting more meaningful information on the various sub networks on RYZE but that will take a much greater amount of time as well as a more concerted effort to understand just exactly how each individual person in each of the individual sub network reacts or responds in the particular networks - I have found so far that the posts made by a single individual very often is extremely different for that person from one network to another - requiring then the ability to relate to both that individual as well as the group differently in each environment!

But the most important factor which I am attempting to illustrate by placing this extremely long list above is that every one of the members here who chose to friend up with me on RYZE would have direct access to or their name and links to their page would be in my RYZE page which could then lead these individuals to the links on their RYZE pages to their imageklind galleries providing each end every one of the members here on Imagekind an extra source for viewers to be exposed to your work -

All of the above networking as well as handing out over 2.2 million business cards - constantly updating and adding to my various web sites and blogs and talking with people at various gatherings and meeting as well as various subtle the carrying out of various assignments that I am working on almost daily constitutes a small part of work in addition to and in support of creating images and placing them in my imagekind galleries - continuous growth being the immediate reward while an increase in opportunities as time proceeds being the ultimate capital that I am building up!
thank you!

Hi Walter and all,

I love what you said at the end of your post. It is a great clue to networking.

"All of the above networking as well as handing out over 2.2 million business cards - constantly updating and adding to my various web sites and blogs and talking with people at various gatherings and meeting as well as various subtle the carrying out of various assignments that I am working on almost daily constitutes a small part of work in addition to and in support of creating images and placing them in my imagekind galleries - continuous growth being the immediate reward while an increase in opportunities as time proceeds being the ultimate capital that I am building up!"

The linking up to people or persons, does indeed, increase traffic to any business venture, website, or person. The more links, the more traffic, the more traffic, the more your business gets known.

Thank you,
Angie
