I came across "The Attention Age Doctrine Volume Two: Web Marketing 2.0" last week.
Down loaded the free report and printed it out. Worth every bit of the ink and paper to print 93 pages.
Rich Schefren is explaining why there is a new paradigm in marketing.
Relevant to what we are doing on this forum is his advice on how to join a social network.

Instead of talking at prospects, talk with them.
1. Map Your Market: Look around and see who the most influential leaders are.
2. Monitor Your Market: Watch and listen to what is happening and what people are saying.
3. Join Your Market: Don't jump in shouting. Slide gently into the conversation. Ask Questions. Play nice.

Turn People into Customers and Friends.
1. Build your market: Educate yourself on the subject matter being discussed. When you do say something, speak with authority.
2. Lead Your Market: Lead them into your own blog, forum, etc.
3. Sell Your Market: You have loyal followers, loyal conversationalists. Now introduce a product. Don't tell them what they want, ask them what they want.
