Do you agree that the Patriots have 9 lives? With a 1% chance of winning against the Patriots Baltimore was a staunch opponent; 4 points ahead at the 2 minute warning.
Unbelievable game tonight between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots. I think the announcer said it best; the Ravens are snake bit at this point. Basically the Ravens pounded the ball down the Pats throat and for the most part refused to allow a 3rd down conversion; they had the game won with 44 seconds left to play as they pulled through with a 4th down stop against the Pats, about to get possession of the ball to seal the deal, but the Raven's sideline called a time out just prior to the snap creating a second chance for Tom Brady to convert. Tom got the first down and then upon another 4th down snap a penalty was called against the Ravens again giving Tom repreave. That penalty gave the Pats a first down and entrance into the red zone. As the Raven's emotional melt down continued 2 stiff 15 yard penalties (unsportsman like conduct - ripping off the helmet and then throwing the ref's penalty flag into the stands - I'm sure there will ne a fine to follow for that one) plus an additional 5 yard penalty for holding was handed to the Ravens to be tacked on for the kick... Now to top it all off Boeler threw a hail Mary with 8 seconds remaining and his man caught it! ... except it was 2 yards short with no time left.
The Patriots were down for the count and some how they lucked out! I really thought this was the end of their perfect season. I have to hand it to the Ravens they were excellent tonight and if it weren't for Murphy's law this would have been the positive highlight of their season. Instead the Ravens were cosmicly denied the win and the Patriots being who they are, true opportunistic professionals, took the luck of the cards that were drawn and stole victory.
Isn't it nice when Luck is on your side? It's even better when you have the talent to "take the ball and run with it" when your lucky stars are shining down on you.

Them not being able to keep their cool down the stretch was the difference maker. The better team prevailed. I wanted to see the upset, but justice was served. It is like anything in life,if your not poised at what you are doing, things start to break down. Little is accomplished when the mind is going 100 mph. Great football though. I love the game.

Was it Reed that actually went after the ref? I thought they only did that in baseball? LOL
There's a lot to be said about Tom Brady, he is as cool as a cucumber all the way down to the last second, again pulling out the win for his team ... I could see how tense and unorganized the Raven's offensive line was when they were trying to get it together for the final snap or two ... took them about 35 seconds to comeplete a snap resulting in zero time when they were at the 2 yard line. You're right cooler heads previal. I have to say it again: When your back is up against the wall you either have it or you don't. Two Patriot Superbowls were won in the last 2 min of the game.
I like the fact that you said "justice was served". From what I understand there is some what of a mutiny within the Ravens ... defense against offense, being that the defense 'blames' the offense for their losing streak and harbors ill feelings against coaches and decission makers; believing that they 'carry' the team. I must say "A House Divided Will Not Stand". As you pointed out, if we look closley at what happened it was the Baltimore Raven's defensive players that made those poor judgment calls. The coaches were doing their best, their QB Boeler was at a peak performance, their running game almost flawless, however when fate played it's hand with an unfortunate time out; the defense fell back on those ill feelings fueled by ego. Smoldering just under the surface.
What I see as a major deficiencey for the Raven's: SYNERGY This could definately be something to learn from ... negative engery transmits throughout the whole body not just one part; if one's leg is broken isn't the whole body off balance with it's new limp? Doesn't the mind maintain a deep awareness of the pain and limitations of the entire body? If one portion of any team or oganization is unbalanced, so will the rest; good or bad.
To bridge that gap I wonder if the coaches can instill the sense of what a team really is for the players; a marriage of sorts, a willingness to comit, to take the good with the bad over the long run. Otherwise, don't accept the proposal (or uniform). Will the Ravens defense be humble enough while looking at the tapes to see essentially what we have presented here or will they be fixated on the unfortunate time out and hide hehind the belief that the time out shouldn't have been called; errors were no thier own but someone else's propping up the wedge between the offense and the defense inside the locker room.
They way I look at it: if you're going to be part of something it's more than just your own accomplishments and those that feel that it is just their day in the light, are the first to get cut from the team.
