First and Foremost, remember that this is a business.

You don't start a business to get your initial investment back, you do it to make money.

You don't start a business to give it a try, you do it to make it a go.

Hi All,
Beware of information overload, it can make you feel overwhelmed . Stick with the one thing your trying to accomplish, finish it and go on to the next.
It's very easy being distracted and led off track.
Never be discouraged by family and friends, when they tell you your dream is impossible.Keep the 'Why' and the 'How' always in your mind, and this will be your driving force towards your success.

Hi All,
Find yourself a 'Mentor', someone who has already achieved what you are trying to achieve, and is available to guide you.

'Networking' is a great start.

Find out how your 'Mentor' has overcome the hurdles you are faced with, and follow their suggestions.

All franchises have 'Set Rule' that led to their success.Why because the original business's success was achieved by certain steps. In-order to obtain that same success, you must follow their 'Set Rules', if you want to achieve the same outcome.

Be patient and persistant.

Have a plan, (smaller goals) to reach your highest goal. Without goals, very little is achieved.

Don't be discouraged by setbacks.

Learn from your mistakes.

Success takes time. Be willing to spend the time needed to make a success of your business.

Boil it down to the basics and stick with them. Don't ever forget the basics.

MLM is a business of promotion, recruiting and marketing.

The first day you enter the "management" of your business is the first day your income will start to drop.

Make it a great day!

Received this awhile ago from Fred Stege (owner of Traffic Oasis) & thought I'd share it here. Lot's of good points worth remembering. It's kinda long so read closely or you might miss a pearl or 2.

(PART I)

--- YOU THE ONLY VARIABLE IN THIS INDUSTRY ---

By Fred P. Stege.

This industry is the same for everybody, and the prospects are the same for everybody. The only variable in this equation is the YOU part. Do YOU want to work? Are YOU willing to make a few changes in yourself in order to achieve the results you desire?

If you answered “Yes” to both of these questions, I want you to benefit from some important truths I have discovered during my career in network marketing. These basic principles have helped me to build my distributorship and achieve financial independence. If you take these same concepts and make them your own, you can—and will—enjoy the same outcome.

--- You must learn to employ yourself;

In network marketing, there’s a direct relationship between your habits and your income. If you want to earn a good income, you’ll need to develop good work habits. You must learn to employ yourself—to be your own boss, set high expectations for your own performance, and motivate yourself to achieve your goals. Remember there's no BV in TV. You cannot sit around passively and expect good things to happen without any effort on your part. You've got to develop good work habits. People always say that bad habits are hard to break. That's true, but do you know what else is hard to break? GOOD HABITS! Develop good work habits and refuse to kid yourself about how hard you are working.

--- Use it or lose it!;

When you learn something new, be sure to apply it immediately! I have seen too many people who have spent too much money and time on training. Let me explain. I’ve met people who attend seminars annually and who do not improve at all. I’ve seen well-trained people drop out of this industry because they did NOT
apply what they learned. Remember this: The best way to learn is to make a lot of mistakes once! What are you going to do after reading this training? Don’t tell me, “Oh, Fred, great stuff!” Instead, come to me after 90 days and say, “Fred, I’ve helped quite a lot of people earn their first check, and I’ve brought one to the top position because I’ve applied and passed on the
concepts you taught me!” Now that’s what I want to hear!

To get any benefit from your training, you have to put it in action. Don’t analyze too much; instead, take Nike’s advice and just DO it! Don’t become the smartest distributor; become the most effective one! Being smart isn’t duplicatable!

--- Realize that it's easier to give birth than to raise the dead;

Not everyone is ready and willing to do what it takes to succeed. Don’t waste your time and energy on passive, negative, or unmotivated people. Often it makes more sense to tell yourself, “Next!” and go find a new prospect than to keep trying to get results from dead wood. Instead of attempting to raise the dead, go out and sponsor somebody who has a positive attitude, self-discipline, and plenty of ambition.

--- Documentation beats conversation;

Learn to sell results, not ingredients. When you’re talking with someone about your product, focus on results. Don’t bore them with a detailed rundown of the various components. Instead, tell them the benefits of using the product! Do the same thing with your business opportunity. Don't go into the percentages and levels of the compensation plan. Instead, provide real-life testimonials about the results that have been achieved by other people. You can share testimonials through telephone calls, magazine articles, web sites, and meetings. Testimonials are the most powerful recruiting tools available because they help your prospects picture themselves achieving their dreams. If someone else has done it, so can they! If you have not yet collected any testimonials, borrow testimonials from your upline.

--- Lead by example;

Set the pace for the people you sponsor. You will quickly discover that people will DO what you DO, not what you tell them to do! My goal has always been to lead by example: to have the most recruits, the most attendees at conference calls and conventions, the largest sales volumes every month. Inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

--- Keep in mind that the heavy chains of worry are always forged in idle moments;

Let’s face it: the road to success in network marketing can be uphill and rocky at times. I have found that the best strategy for coping with challenges is to keep moving forward. As a wise person once noted, “The heavy chains of worry are always forged in idle moments.” In other words, anxiety gets worse when you don’t stay busy. If you're out there in the trenches working, however, it’s easier to maintain a positive attitude.

--- For things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to get better;

This is a principle that truly turned my life around: For things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to get better. I can tell you EXACTLY what next year will look like: it will be the same as this past year unless you make some changes. I had to make changes to get out of my job. I had to spend more time working on my own attitudes and habits, and I had to get a little bit better each day. Growth happens by inches, not yards, and I had to change before anything else would change. I had to get better for things to get better. To improve your life, you’ll need to strive to become a little better each day.

--- Build your business on a solid foundation;

A successful business doesn’t spring up by itself. You need to build it one day at a time, one brick at a time. Establish your business on a solid foundation by retailing the product, following up with satisfied customers, and contacting people by phone and e-mail. Take a positive approach, and keep doing the basics over and over and over again. Develop a sense of personal awareness. Be honest with yourself about whether or not you're out there doing what it takes to make it in this business.

--- Develop an attitude of relaxed intensity;

After you've been in this business for a while, you’ll notice that your confidence will grow and begin to affect how you approach people. After many years in network marketing I'm still very intense when I'm talking to people about this industry, but they can also tell that I've matured as a networker because I have developed what's known as a relaxed intensity. I don’t feel the
need to beg anyone to get involved in this business. I have so much documentation—so many results—to show people that I know they should be begging me to let them get involved in network marketing. I'm very persistent with people. I don't take a blind NO from anyone. But I'm also not begging people to get involved in this business. I share with them the facts and the results, and I ask them to keep an open mind and give me a few minutes of their time.

--- Take the meeting to the people;

Get them on the conference calls, have them take a virtual tour on your site. Get them on a three-way call with another leader. You need to be out there consistently talking with people every day. What does a full-time distributor do? Recruit and sell all day long. That's the nature of recruiting. You're building up your organization, and you're selling the product, AND you're teaching other people how to recruit all day long. Use testimonials. The best way to recruit and sell is to use testimonials: true stories of the life-changing results achieved by you and others.

--- Don't try to re-invent the wheel;

Keep your business duplicatable. If a particular approach has worked well in the past, why would you choose to abandon it and try to re-invent the wheel? Use testimonials, share results, promote the industry, and promote your people. Keep your business simple, fun, easy, exciting, and duplicatable.

Michael Lemm
HERE'S PART II................

--- Consistency and momentum are the key;

If you keep doing the basics consistently over a period of time, you will establish momentum. Remember that all distractions are equal, and all excuses are equal. I’m always amused to see how people come up with all kinds of different excuses about why they can't get started with this business or they haven’t been able to share this opportunity with others. Remember that all distractions and all excuses are equal. Before you can get anywhere, you need to reach a point in life where you will tear up that list of excuses, get focused, and stay focused on what you're doing. The lifeblood of this business is consistency in retailing and recruiting. Momentum is 90 percent of the game.

--- Say less to more people;

Sometimes I’m amazed when I reflect on the number of people with whom I’ve made contact during my career in network marketing. From 1997 to early 2002, for example, I called an average of 200 leads per week. In early 2001 I began funneling an average of 5000 leads per week into my autoresponder and calling a few less people on the telephone (but still a dozen per day). Altogether, though, I’ve called about 50,000 phone numbers and spoken with about 35,000 people, according to the records I’ve kept in my journals. My gosh! I remember a well-known veteran saying, "If you talk to a lot of people you get RICH!" He
turned out to be right. These calls have brought me a fortune. I call it Dialing for Dollars.

Talk your way to millions, or e-mail your way to millions. Choose whatever method you prefer, but make sure you are in touch with people at least five days per week. If you are working your business part-time, talk to at least five people per day about your business. If you're involved full-time, talk to a few dozen people per day. Remember that you get paid for communicating with people about this industry.

--- DUPLICATE your efforts, and always make sure your methods are duplicatable;

It’s essential to DUPLICATE what you do. That's the key to success! Multilevel marketing is the highest-paid segment of the Direct Sales Industry. Duplicating our efforts is what sets us apart from regular direct sales. Never forget the Leverage Principle. Make sure that what you are doing is simple enough that it can be done by almost anyone with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

--- Never forget that people communicate more with feelings than with words;

What you say is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you say. Your beliefs and attitudes are more important than the exact words you use, because prospects will pick up on the feelings behind the words. If you have a sincere desire to help others improve their lives, people will want to work with you. If you lack sincerity or concern for others, they will sense it and refuse to have anything to do with you.

--- Strike while the iron is hot!;

There has never been a better time to get started than right now! Strike while the iron is hot. So many people blame everything on their sponsor, saying, “I know I could be successful if I had a sponsor who would help me.” If you need a helping hand, you can find it at the end of your arm. Tell yourself, “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Don't look upline, and don't look downline. Look in
the mirror. Always strive to be the best distributor in your organization.

--- Develop a “want to” versus a “have to” attitude;

Having a “want to” attitude means you want to do this business because you want to help people. Be enthusiastic. Don’t tell yourself that you “have to” do this business. You’re in it because you want to be here, not because you have to be here.

--- Focus more on helping your distributors and customers get results than on the money you want to make;

This has been a key principle behind my success in this business: I have always cared more about helping people—my distributors and customers—to get results than about the money I wanted to make. Your success will come from helping others to succeed. That’s what leveraging is all about. When you shift your focus to helping others, the money will follow.

--- Develop and maintain consistency in your efforts, work habits, and attitude;

If you can achieve consistency in your efforts, work habits, and attitudes, you can be part of the huge wave of new millionaires who will emerge from the ranks of network marketers in the first decade of the twenty-first century.

--- Set a game plan and stick with it!;

During the next 90 days, I want you to work the business as if your life depended on it. Put yourself on a 90-day game plan and work with a sense of urgency, fear of loss, do-or-die attitude. When you're out there communicating with people, remember to do it from a position of strength.

When you're talking with people, remember what the greatest Teacher of all time did when he sent his top 12 people out into the streets. He told them, "Let me tell you something before you go out there: not every home is going to be to your accord. Just make sure that you shake every grain of sand from your shoes before you leave." In other words, it doesn't matter whether people buy your
story, as long as you don't buy their story.

So keep that belief level high. Believe in the opportunity, believe in the industry, and—most important of all—believe in yourself.

You can do it!

Tell your friends, family, and other people you know about your products/business,
but don't push it at them.

Many new people get so excited they can not talk about anything else and they
drive their warm market away. People you know will see you doing the business, will
see you using the products and then be more interested then if you are just calling
everyone about the best opportunity or best product.

My mom wanted nothing to do with my products when I first started. She is one of those dream
killers, she would spend more time
looking for reasons to not like what I was doing then looking at the positive or being supportive.

But one day I stopped at her house on the way to do flea market. Many of my old
lost friends were going to be at the market so I figured it would be good exposure.
When my mom saw my products in my car she asked what is that and oh thats cute.
She ended up buying several things for gifts. I complete turn around from when
I had 1st told her about the business and asked for support.

Easy ways to get the word out is have your website on your return address labels,
include business cards with letters and cards you mail out. Call people you know
and ask about them, let them update you on their lives, invite them to a get together.
Send your friends/family etc 2 catalogs ask them to pass them to people they know who
may be interested in your business or product.

The best advice I ever received about MLM was from a master network marketer named Brig Heart. He said “Never get involved in network marketing unless you yourself use and enjoy the benefits your product on a daily bases.” I believe this is one of main reasons most people fail at MLM. After all. How can you tell people about the benefits of a product if you don’t experience those benefits on a regular bases?

WOW - All excellent! I ditto everything!

My advice: Network marketing is a lot of trial and error. Sometimes you'll make mistakes, sometimes you'll fail, but if you believe in everything, including the concept of network marketing, the product, the company, the people, the compensation plan and yourself, then here it is which was already mentioned: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND NEVER GIVE UP. Just keep going. Keep persevering. Keep learning.

Another tip already mentioned that's a MUST: Having a great mentor that KNOWS the market inside and out. (preferrably the same industry that you're involved with, such as health and wellness).

So there you go! And I know there's more, but I'll stop here. Anyone can contact me at any time and I'll be happy to help.

What Do Your Past & Jimmy Hoffa
Have In Common?
Yes. Sure. Absolutely. The answer is obvious.
They're both dead.
However, it's a bit of a trick question, too.
Why?
Well, I personally don't know if Jimmy Hoffa is part of the foundation of Giants
Stadium in New Jersey, or if he's buried in a backyard in Detroit. But I'll tell you
this: Jimmy Hoffa IS dead. I know he's dead. You know he's dead. Jimmy Hoffa
knows he's dead.
Your past, on the other hand ... well, I know it's dead. You know it's dead.
Right?
Or are you like most people, reliving your business failures every day of your
life?
If so, you've come to the right place.

Hi All,
I don't know about you but my past is not dead. If it were, I would not be here today. If you think about it, your business is built upon what you did in the past. To say it is dead, is to forget and move on. That way, you are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past. The Past can and should be a very important learning tool. If you made a mistake, you should pick up and move on, but you should also learn from it. There are also many good expeirences that I want to draw on. So yes, the past is very much alive and there to be accecessed when I need it, thank God.

Hi John,

Good point, and you are absolutely right!

The quote is from Success in Ten Steps by Michael Dlouhy,
and I think what he is saying is that we should not let our
previous failures keep us from succeeding in the future.

Too many people blame themselves, when it is often the
companies they have chosen that have let them down.

One of Michael's first messages to us is "It's not your fault!"
Four of the sweetest words we've ever heard!

He then goes on to show why over 95% of people are
failing in network marketing and why they don't have to.

Apr 09, 2008 7:11 pmThe 10 K question#

George Booker
Hi

When we start a home based business, we should know how hard
we will have to work to achieve our goals.

Michael Dlouhy has taught us to ask The 10K Question.

"How many active distributors do I need in my business to generate
a walk away residual income of $10000 per month?"

We like the question for several reasons.

1. It leaves out products. We don't get into discussions like "My
juice is better than your medical plan!" or "My water filter is better
than your travel deals!"

2. The word 'active' avoids discussion of attrition rates and the
commitment levels of your team.

3. The phrase 'walk away' makes us investigate our policies and
procedures to make sure we can actually retire and pass our
business on to our children's children.

4. The word 'residual' makes us calculate how much money we
will make from retail or wholesale sales, not just from recruiting.

5. The figure of $10000 makes us think big. It's also fair to the
company, as most or all of the commissions and bonuses will
have kicked in by then.

If we started a job or bought a traditional business, we would
know our salary or the income projections from the previous
owner. When we start a home business, however, we rarely
ask that question, and we should!

We worked for five years in a business and discovered too late
that it was going to be almost impossible to reach our goals.
We wished we had asked the 10K question before we started.

If you do not know the answer to that question in your present
business, find out before you waste five years as we did.

If you are considering starting a business, ask the question.
If your sponsor or upline or company rep support cannot answer
you, RUN! As Michael Dlouhy says, "Run far and run fast!"

If you'd like some help to calculate the 10K answer for your
company, we will be glad to work with you. We can also help
you analyze your company's policies and procedures to see if
your business is protected for you and your family.

Start here ... http://sebok.successin10steps.com

As soon as you download the book, we'll contact you to show
you the rest of the free training system, the audio version of
Success in Ten Steps, and many archived training calls - all
free and all generic.

We look forward to helping you any way we can.

To your success,

George and Sabina Booker.

I agree that a Person's success comes from Within them. It all starts with a burning desire and belief.

I am a student of Jim Rohn and while listening to Jim he had made this statement that hit me like a ton of bricks.

"If He can reach the level of Success that he is at, "WHY CAN'T YOU?"

Print that out and stare at it awhile. Ask yourself that question. Anyone can have success if they have a desire to take the ACTION to make it happen.

How does one get Belief? Great Question. I when starting out borrowed the belief of my mentor. He had more belief in me than I ever thought I could. So I listened to him and did everything he said to do and I applied his teachings and took the action to build my own belief.

Belief doesn't happen overnight.... it takes some time to build it. One thing I was always told growing up is that you have to see it to believe it. Well that was so backwards and I see it now.

You have to BELIEVE It in order to see it. Believing you will have success and then putting the ACTION behind it you will see the results of success. Do it!

Anyhow this is just a few thoughts that I can pass onto to anyone who is struggling to figure this all out.

YOUR Success comes from Within YOU. No one can make you successful but YOU.

I Believe in YOU!

One piece of advice I give newcomers (myself included) is one I continually gave to the hundreds of salespeople I trained:

Stop looking for the shortcuts. Find out what the successful people in your business are doing and just do it.

If you read the internet postings or those chrome-plated emails we all get every day, you will always be chasing the next "Easy Way To Recruit A Million People Overnight" course or ebook.

Sure, there are techniques you can use to get better leads or more exposure. They all have one thing in common: there is no magic formula in them. They consist of doing the things that get you in front of more people every day, which takes effort on your part.

If you want to do internet recruiting, put up a blog, post some articles around the net and on your blog, visit forums etc. You will get leads. Call them. Establish rapport with those good folks that you wish to have a solid business relationship with for the next few years.

If you cannot generate enough leads on the internet, buy leads or get a genealogy list and call them.

Decide the night before how your day will be structured. For example, 8:00 am til noon work on internet postings and traffic generation, article submission etc. 1:00 pm til 6:00 pm call leads.

Work your plan every day and you can be where you want to be.

Happy Marketing

We have a saying for people wanting to or just getting into Network Marketing... Just Play the Game.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the post I put up about The Residual Income Game. You can learn what would typically take you 6 months in just one game-based training play (about 90 minutes). We've seen this to be true and if you can learn that much in less than 2 hours can you imagine if you played the Residual Income Game more than once?

We have people playing it two and three times a week and using it as their main attraction to a quick business opportunity meeting that only takes 10-15 minutes after a game play since you don't have to "convince" anyone to get involved in network marketing. They are already ready to hear what you have to say if they caught hold of the power of money coming in month after month even when you're on vacation.

Most people don't understand since they've been brainwashed to work hard trading time for dollars. They actually feel that if they didn't work that hard, it must be illegal to have money coming in all the time whether you put time in or not.

Any questions email me at norma@residualincomegame.com

I've just returned from the Direct Selling Association's Annual Meeting. Of course there were some great pearls of wisdom - some even demand repeating. Particularly, of interest to this discussion is that it was echoed again and again by leaders, consultants and speakers...

"Do Less Better"

If you'll pick a focus and then work it, you'll learn how to build on that and be careful to add things slowly to keep on track. It's easy to try to be everything to all people and get overwhelmed and too busy to do anything well.

Also, there was a great speaker, Jason Jennings, who shared solid principles for success. What I liked about him is that it wasn't his opinion; he shared what he discovered from researching tens of thousands of companies.

His main points to building a success business were:
1. Have a Cause and Live it everyday
2. Let Go
3. Think and Act Like Owners
4. The World's Best Managers and Leaders are Stewards

Reaching Out...Building A List

Here's a few random thoughts and ideas on how you can build a list. Find one or more that you're comfortable with...and JUST DO IT.

The most obvious and easy way is to purchase leads or run traditional or online advertising (PPC, Press Release, Article Submissions etc).

You could also take the sizzle card / flyer approach (I'm not into littering so I don't personally do this).

Another approach is to cold call professionals (and see if they are open to diversifying... Todd Falcone does an excellent training series on this method), or do voicemail drops (not recordings but actually call and leave
voicemails).

But before you do this, I recommend that you write down your own list of resources... who have you met over the past several years and list them all. You'd be surprised how many names you can come up with in a matter of a couple of hours. By the way, do this whether you want to contact them or not. It's a good exercise, and can help you learn to identify the type of people you'd like on your team... and there are many ways you can leverage this list (as customers, referrals, business builders etc).

Also, if you go out to do belly to belly marketing. Don't go out there with the intention to find "sharp" people. Just show an interest in people in general. Ask them all the questions... and inevitably they will ask you what you do... (which is not an invitation to pitch your opp by the way). Be casual, drop a few hints... If they show interest it gives you the opportunity to give them a CD / Brochure / Etc. This method usually works best for the product approach though. You'll find that you could end up giving out dozens of CDs and maybe half of them will call you back to ask questions...

The most successful use several methods to add names to your list... PPC, Warm Market, Purchase Leads, Belly-to-Belly Marketing etc.

Look at list building like investing... learn to diversify.

Michael and everyone else, I want to thank you for taking the time to help me understand the network marketing profession. I've been involved in it on and off for the last 20yrs, dabbling in it for a month or two with no results. I was the one who thought if I just thought about it I would make money...boy was I mistaken. This is a business and understanding what it takes to run a business is very important. Thanks again for showing me I'm the one who has the power in ignite my business. Great advice. I look forward to gaining more knowledge and sharing mine as I learn more.

BRAVO to George Booker for one of the most important responses I've seen.  (If you
missed it, scroll up and find it.)

In my experience, most networkers ever make the shift from "thinking like an employee"
to "thinking like an entrepreneur".  And the best evidence for this is that -- if you ask 100
network marketers, '"How many active associates would I need in this business to earn,
say, $10,000 per month"
-- most of them couldn't answer you.

In fact, most networkers have never sat down with a pencil and paper and figured up
what they need to do in order to get into profit.

This is a major problem.

The primary purpose of any business is to earn a profit.  And the products and services
and business-building is a MEANS to that end.  But it's not the reason we're in business.
It's just what we do to reach our ultimate purpose:  to create profit.

Example:  My brother-in-law is an owner/operator of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.  If I called
him right now and said, "Hey Bryce, how many people do you need to walk in the front
door today in order to pay the bills today"......

....he could answer that question in less than 15 seconds.

Why?  Because he's thinking like a business owner.  Not an employee.
(His employees probably have no idea on that question.)

So, how does this apply to network marketing?  Simple:  if you have joined a business
and have no idea how many active associates you'll need in your organization to "break even"
on your expenses and to create your income goal.......you're still thinking like an employee.

If you're offended by that statement, I'm sorry but it's true.

The good news is that it's easy to do.  But you have to do it.  Otherwise, you'll never know if you're
"on track" or not.

I'll post a short formula in a moment that will assist you if you've never done it before.

Here's the formula I mentioned in the previous post for how to figure up
how many people you need in your group to break even on your expenses.

And if you've never done it, here's all that's required:

  1. Total up what it costs you to run your business each month.  This would include the
    products you buy to qualify for your check, your website, your advertising, etc.  These
    are your expenses.

  2. Next, identify the amount of product that your downline members will purchase
    each month.  This will be your average spending per associate.  (Note, if your
    company uses "product points", make sure you write this down in "product points", not
    dollars.

  3. Next, look at your pay plan's top three levels and take an average of how much
    the company is paying for those levels.  There's no point in averaging the entire
    pay plan since -- in a young organization -- most people will not have an organization
    that extends past the third level.  This is the average % payout.

  4. Now, you're ready to do some very simple math.  Multiple the
    average % payout (from #3) by the average spending per associate (from #2).
    This will give you a new number:  the AEPA (average earnings per associate)

  5. Finally, take your expenses (from #1) and divide it by the AEPA (from #4).  This will
    tell you your break-even point, or how many people you need in your organization
    to pay your expenses every month.

That's all there is to it.  In fact it took longer for me to describe this than it does
to actually do it.  Basically you're just figuring up what your expenses are and then
you divide it by the amount of money you earn on the average person in your downline.

Here's an real-life example:

  1. EXPENSES:  $300 ($100 products, $150 in marketing and $50 for website and long distance)
  2. Average person spends 75 points on products each month
  3. Average % payout is 7%
  4. Multiply #2 and #3 to get:  $5.25 average earnings per associate
  5. Divide my expenses (#1) by average earnings per associate (#4).
    That's $300 divided by $5.25.  I need 58 people in my group to pay
    my expenses every month.
That number is not "good" or "bad".  It just is what it is.  And there may
be some other things in the pay plan that will make that number smaller.
But, in terms of weighing a pay plan, this is a way that is fair.

IMPORTANT:  this will only tell you what you need to do to "break even", that is
to recoup your expenses.

If you want to know what it will take to earn, say, $1,000 per month you simply
take that number ADD IT TO YOUR EXPENSES and divide it by the AEPA.

For example, in the above example, you'd add $1,000 to $300 and divide by $5.25
to find that you need about 247 people in your group to earn $1,000 per month.

CONCLUSION:  "Hope" is not a plan.  You wouldn't get in your car and just aimlessly
drive and hope to get to your favorite restaurant.  In the same way, you have to
know where you're going in business.  And if you've never figured up what you'll have
to do to achieve your goals, you might want to consider that you've not fully
started thinking like a business-owner.

I hope that's of assistance to someone!

I would say that discussion forums/networks such as this one are invaluable.

So much time, and sometimes money, can be saved by joining discussion groups, asking questions, reading, and learning.

Social networking is by far one of the best resources out there for the newbie (AND the not so new).

You build relationships, in turn helping to build your business.

But by doing it the right way .

Discussions like this one here are a fantastic example.

Mike: My goal has always been to lead by example: to have the most recruits, the most attendees at conference calls and conventions, the largest sales volumes every month. Inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

Mark: I have a question, do you feel that you need to be the best recruiter, most attendees at conference calls and convention and largest sales volumes every month. What makes you think just because you can do it, they will believe they can do it? It is pretty evident that you are an educated man and have superior communication skills? Frankly, if I am the average joe, I would kind of intimidate me.

I am sure it is effective in some circles but I am just think there are other ways of leadership besides the one you have shown.

Many people have a problem managing their time. Biting off more than one can chew/spreading oneself too thin are common but manageable. Prioritize your tasks each day, 1 week at a time and make sure they get done. Find some time each day, even if only for 30 minutes to take action and change the course of your life. If it means forgoing some TV, video gaming, random Internet surfing, or going out for drinks with friends, you can find the time. There are distractions everywhere and you must become immune to them for whatever time you consecrate to working on your enterprise. It all boils down to what you feel is truly important. You know that nothing of value can be earned without some level of sacrifice.

If you write down all the tasks you want to accomplish for your business and systematically get them done, things will happen. Do not compare yourself to anyone else and never beat up on yourself when you slip, because we all do. The objective is to minimize such blips on your radar and stay positive. Keep your eye on the prize. Work diligently and consistently every day and you will reach your goal. Do not get frustrated if results don’t come immediately. There is no magic here, only common sense and hard work. Enjoy yourself and this won’t even feel like work. It shouldn’t. Best!

Tools To Help You Get The "Point" Across To Your Prospects

You may be struggling a bit with Network Marketing, not because you don't believe in it, because you do, but because you're not in the "convincing" business. Those people who have snubbed your opportunity are the ones that haven't even given it a look, and that's too bad for them.

Your attitude......"NEXT". But, if you have 3rd party validation, it can make all the difference. See, if it's just you going out there talking about your opportunity, it can be more work. But if you hand them a tool, they can hear about it from someone else.

Here's 2 CD's that you may like to use in your business building.

The first is "The Perfect Business" by Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". How many times have you read "If you want to be a millionaire, talk to a millionaire!". What you'll like about this CD is that Robert has never been involved with a Network Marketing company. But in his CD, he flat out says that if he had to do it again, he'd do network marketing. Great plug for NM.

The other CD you may really like is "The Next Trillion" by Paul Zane Pilzer. How the fortunes of the new millennium will be created in the Wellness Industry. Paul is the Economist that predicted the Technology boom of the 90's, so if you missed that, you'll want to pay attention now.

These men are millionaires. They've offered these tools to help us be the same. There are others like Tim Sales "Brilliant Compensation" which are also very good. Look for them and see which you like best....then USE them.

Another item you may share with your prospects is "The 45 Second Presentation That Will Change Your Life" by Don Failla. This book is great for explaining what Network Marketing IS and what it IS NOT. Have your prospect read the first 4 napkin presentations. They'll be so curious about what a napkin presentation is that they'll read it. (The first 4 presentations is only about 32 pages).

Although you are already sharing personal experience with the product you are promoting, this validation is extremely powerful. But don't forget, you must believe in your product and want to share it with others. It will show if you are not a believer. There are many many opportunities out there. If you're looking for a credible one, start with the DSA (Direct Selling Association).

You'll want to pick a company that has ALL of the following:

* Market Demand - Your product must produce results in order to create a demand for it.

* Consumable - it must be something that will be consumed and repurchased.

* Market timing and Trends - identify what the current trends are. The timing of the company is key as well. Brand new is not always the best. Make sure it's an established company with a reputation, stability, and ETHICAL.

* Leveragability - You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself. Leverage your time to increase your earning power. It's the power of duplication that facilitates leveragability.

You can significantly narrow your search by sticking to those 4 guidelines.

I hope this information is helpful to all of you looking to grow your own businesses.

Set up a website that is unique to YOU, not a clone. Your website should market not only the product but YOU. Think about this as you set up your site:

1. Why would someone want to purchase products from you or sign up on YOUR team?

2. What is your target market? Don't just mass market, pick a group of people you actually want to reach and addres their needs and concerns. Show them how signing up on your team will benefit their life in some way.

Do You Feel Like You're Selling Red Umbrellas On a Sunny Day?

When looking for a home based business.....The product/service you choose is only a small factor in the scheme of things...Many Newbies (including myself when I began) look for products first...we think that the secret is in the perfect product...a hot converter...

When the true secret is in the PERFECT match between the niche you are marketing to AND the product...

Start with market research...find a group of people that have a problem or craving they want satisfied...then find a product that is a great solution to their problem...

Let me put it in a different way...okay?

If it is raining cats and dogs...and you are selling red umbrellas...and only red...you are going to make great sales that day...and you may MISTAKENLY believe that your "red umbrellas" are a hot product...

The next day...it is scorching hot, sunny day and you can't sell one "red umbrella" ...so you get "blue ones"...they don't sell either...then "green ones"...and they don't sell either....

But the guy next to you selling icy cold lemonade is making a fortune...

So you go into the lemonade business...and do great until winter...and then you can't figure out why lemonade is now such a dud product...

But the guy next to you selling frothy, hot, lattes is making a fortune...

I know it seems like an extreme example...but that is exactly what happens a LOT when someone is new to internet marketing....or marketing in general

Pick a market first...what do they want? ....what problems can you solve?...and then sell them what they want...

Always be on the look out for what people want...Now you can reverse engineer...but just make sure you STILL do your market research...WHO is the product a perfect match for?

What really ensures the attainment of MLM riches? You might be surprised though you really shouldn't be.

In order to acquire MLM riches and all that they allow you to do (or not do) it takes:

Drum roll please ...

A plan, realistic expectations, consistent hard work, and patient perseverance.

Yep, that's it. It's not the system, it's not the up line, it's not the product, and it's certainly not magic, which are the things you most see in ads for opportunities.

Yes, those things are important (except for the magic of course), but by themselves they guarantee nothing. The best of each of them mean nothing without a realistic plan, realistic expectations of the tools and your abilities, and consistent hard work and perseverance.

The system is there as a tool for you to use and it should provide all of the basic elements needed to run a business (promotion, list management, content, training), but you must properly work it and give it time to work. You must allow for your knowledge and skills to set the pace for how much is realistically achievable each day, week, and month. At the start progress will be slow and difficult like when as a child you first started walking. Later you will be able to walk then run. Accept where you are at each stage and go with the flow, persevere, but practice patience.

Your up line is also a tool and should provide the plan and help you navigate the obstacles in moving from today to "tomorrow" where you understand what it means to be a business owner and are proficient in running a business using their system. They can help you accomplish this important goal in less time than you could do it by wandering around trying to figure it out yourself, that's what their role really is, but they will not do the work for you.

Lastly, the product is important because it is what generates your income. You need a solid product that has a substantial viable market of people that need it and will generate repeat sales. However, the company/product will not do the work for you either, despite of all the hype you see on the net saying the product well sell itself, no effort required, etc.

Of the above true secrets (plan, expectations, effort, and patience), the two most important (and closely related) ones are expectations and patience. Without realistic expectations of yourself, the plan, the system, your up line, and prospects and the patience to ride out the difficulties that will come while building your business, you will become discouraged and quit.
