I'd like to get everyone's perspective on this . . . .

Your company knows it will have future needs, particularly at the management level and above. They want to start building relationships with people in the industry whose skills, experiences and qualities will no doubt be needed at some point; for the sake of this discussion we'll say within 6 months to a year. There are no specific job openings yet for which one needs to recruit, but the company wants to start building relationships with people who might fit the bill when the need arises.

Of course, one of the biggest complaints people have is being contacted about positions that aren't available or don't exist, so when contacting prospects one should not create the impression that an immediate opportunity exists.

How would you go about this? If any of you have something like this in place how are you doing it and how is it working? What results have you achieved? What should one be certain to do, or not do for that matter? What's worked and what hasn't.

Your thoughts on this will be appreciated.
