Has anyone made bracelets using the stretch line or cable?
If so, what is a good quality stretch to use?

Thank you,
Angie

Dear Angie,

there are several types of stretchies out there.

The oldest one, made from rubber can be good for beads with large holes. It is fairly sturdy and takes quite some abuse. The disadvantage is a bulky knot for finishing, unless you're using a crimp of sorts.

The jelly stretch cords seem nice at first, but they deteriorate rather quickly and lose their stretching/retracting ability. I personally don't like using them.

My very favorite is the Gossamer thread, a very thin and delicate looking usually white thread. It works for many types of beads, and if you must get more strength and security out of it, just douoble , quadruple or multiply it.
It is a bit of a pain to work with it, but if you're doing many bracelets (which I hope), then you'll get used to the feel and workability of it. I have used in on South Seas pearls and diamond rondels, it is the only thread that will work for pearls and go through their small holes.
You can use smooth crimp beads to finish off this thread. Make sure the crimps are tight. Works like a charm.

I hope this will help you!

Friendly greetings
