Lesson 15B - Ryze and Politics

It's inevitable! Everyone has views and opinions and invariably topics get down to the nitty gritty of political responsibility.

It doesn't matter if the topic is about gas prices or unemployment, somehow the Government is to blame and members start to take sides. This results in an all out war of words on the network!

One has to remember that although it is our right to voice our opinions, it is also our right to respect that the opinions of other may differ from ours. Agree to disagree and remain friends!

I have seen many members lose business because of a dogmatic attitude on the networks. An on-line war also causes those who wish to remain neutral, to hive off for a while and the network becomes focused on nothing but 'the war'. There is no quicker way to kill a network, so don't be surprised if your network leader takes a hard line and either stops the discussion, or removes the thread altogether.

Something to consider when entering into a contentious discussion: How are WE (as a country) perceived by those from other countries? Remember that Ryze is International. Are we illustrating to the world, just how divided we can be?

No, show strength of character and strength of country by being polite and accepting that we don't all think the same way. Always think about how others will brand the entire nation, based upon your words, your attitude and your behavior, on-line.

Above all, remember that Ryze is a business network and that professional behavior is a must at all times.

Happy networking! :)
