This parallels some thinking I shared http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/Categories/eRadioIdeas/2002/11/18.html However, I would address the design question to the Tribe's home page, rather than the Ryze home page of the individual.
My e Radio Ideas category is ideas for improving the quality of our weblogging experience
this particular post link has my ideas on Phil Wolff thread about need to better map the Blog Sphere
people need a place to state a list of what their blogs are ABOUT, from a list of possible titles that are non-hostile, with linked definitions, so that someone who does not know what KLOGGING for example is, can look at the definition & say OH NEAT, I want to look at some blogs that do that, and there they are
ideally each category would have a short icon or few letters, easily recognized ... short so that beside link is string of several types ... we look down columns for those categories that interest us ... I used for my blog for here (not posted to the list yet) my Brain To Brain Category because it is ABOUT improving mutual communications http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/Categories/brainToBrain/
At some point some people MIGHT want several links, to their categories that are focused in several areas
IT = Information Technology
MB = Meta Blog ... introspectively talking about the blogging phenomena itself
ME = Personal Logging
POL = Commenting on Politics

I've gone through all of them and some are IT focused, other's personal, others political. It would increase willingness to go to others blogs, b/c you'd know the content is something you'd be interested in. Just a thought.
