Today I have one but, like you, it has separate "channels" for private/family/business/public use. Shortly I will be starting a second, with a a different blogging platform. It will allow multiple sites, or channels, as well.

I suspect that as the technology matures, and more of our original content is targeted toward web publishing, the experienced blogger will have at minimum a work, family, and personal blog. For instance, I have a pwd-protected site where I can post family photos and things I don't want Googled or spidered but I want family and friends to access. As I develop my company presence there will be additional blogs in that domain.

I don't know that I can pick a number, but in the knowledge economy it's not what you know that matters -- it's what others know that you know. And people will use blogs, or some variant, to make that plain.
