Dear all,
I know you all are aware of the heavy showers in Chennai since 26 Oct 2005 midnight, which is still continuing. A depression over south west Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression and lies centered at 2330 hours IST on 26.10.05 about 400 km southeast of Chennai. Under its influence, squally wind with speed reaching 50 to 60 kilometres per hour is likely, along with heavy to very heavy showers.
Request you all to follow the given guidelines for safety reasons.
1) Closely monitor the news channels on TV / Radio on the weather updates for adopting suitable precautions. The landline contacts of Chennai Meteorological Center is 2823 0091 or 2823 0092.
2) During incidents of water logging it is quite possible that exposed electric wires comes in contact with logged water which may lead to dangerous situations of electrocution. Please do not venture outside, especially during heavy down pour.
3) For commuting to office or elsewhere, please do not use two wheelers at least for the next two days. (We may not be aware of the big pot holes and the temporary drainage measures which were carried out in the city).
4) Avoid taking food / beverages from unhygienic areas.
