The idea of meeting once in a month is probably the least effortless real time activity that we can think of. So, it is required. The online bonhomie and fellow-feeling that is evident all over the WCFC Msg Board have to be pushed into real time activities seamlessly. This Msg Board is the meeting ground for all of us to get ourselves introduced to each other. The resulting fusion between all of us can be put to common cause, promoting the central theme "Make Chennai a better place to live in". Issues are countless. Even if we take 3 or 4 major issues and start working on them, it can create a 'quantum leap' effect. But, again, sustained working on the issues we identify could be the biggest challenge. We have to meet it.
At this point of time, what we require is a good number of WCFC online participants. As of now there are about 10 (or less than that) who are active in the Msg Board. The global experience with online Msg Boards is this. "The conversion ratio of realization of even most successful online msg boards into physical form activities is abysmal". The emotional empathy of online synergy of minds don't get easily converted to real time actions. This is a global phenomenon today.
Well, we all can prove that we are an exception by showing an unfliching faith in ourselves and in what we want to do with and thru' WCFC. We require numbers even to get into the mind-mould of proving the global formula wrong! As of now, there are about 10 or <10, who are keeping the WCFC ball rolling. Within a month from now, we should make this number go up to 50. For this, we have to bring in about 300 to 400 online members into the WCFC.
While I was talking to Harish a few days back, he was echoing the same strategy that we should bring in a lot of people into WCFC first. Harish is doing a silent job, but an excellent one. He is now fully concentrating on the Chennai FuFa meet to be held on April 2nd. I have already told him that he could do whatever he wants thru WCFC to make the FuFa meet a big success. I am also into the FuFa.
Lets ramp up and make WCFC get more and more people in the online forum. Lets channelize the online strength to real time work. There is a perceptible tinge of satisfaction in working towards a common cause and sharing the pain (and pangs) of growing a long term service-minded strategy. Lets unravel it by huddling together.
Yes, we will meet soon. I will reach as many of you and arrive at a consensus.
And bear with me for my ol' world writing! The old dog is finding it difficult to practice the net way of writing.
