After a few years of collecting art, I had decided to catalogue and display as much of it as possible, for various reasons, viz to promote transperancy, encourage others to take the first step to collecting, simply to showcase various media, genres etc, all of which, I hope, will go someway in development of ‘art’ in India. Along the way came the thought that, now that I have this medium, this website, why not showcase works of artists. Thus was born the ‘showcase’ section on my website. I have just showcased the works of another young artist Moutushi Banerjee, who has this to say about her work: “Fables or story-telling, for me, is a liberating mode of image-making which allows me to bring together the real and the fantastical in an attempt to confront and contradict reality. In my world neither man nor animal gains supremacy in their constant battle with each other. Amid the chaos of crude reality I try to pave a path of solace through the stories that I perceive through my objects of terror and desire.” I urge all those for whom art is an important part of their lives to surf to www.privateartmuseum.com and have a look.
