Joy Mahbubani
Joy Mahbubani describes herself as a proud advocate of XL. Joy explains that the XL Social Enterprise Accreditation program is a great vehicle for creating awareness. "It's an accreditation where you know you have achieved something. It is not just money that has been given away. You benefit, your nominated cause benefits, and there is a sense of achievement. Sometimes what we want to feel is this sense of achievement.
She has benefited financially from being an XL Life Member - but more importantly, she has found her confidence and established strong relationships with other Life Members.
Joy has achieved phenomenal success during the last twelve months. "My biggest achievement would have been my work with Jeff in Africa. What we are doing currently is providing water and raising money to build a school. So Jeff and I really want to raise awareness to tell people that there are small projects like this that they can get involved in.
Throughout 2007, Joy is committed to continuing her work with the mission in Africa. She also plans to create a book entitled 'The Women of Excellence'. Due for launch by the end of the year, its purpose is to offer support and hope to women.
Joy explains by saying, "I want women to know that there are others like them. Because sometimes we feel so alone, and we think we are the only one like that."
