Ah, Seattle, my old home town. I don't bother with networking in the real world any longer. It's too hard to find someone in a relatively small circle that values superior writing service and the invaluable experience of what works and what doesn't. So I stay with the Net in networking and it works great. I guess "live" networking is akin to going to a small high school and trying to find the perfect mate. Some can do it, but the pool of possibilities is oh, so small. Better to widen the dating pool, which the Internet does. I now work out of Florida (better weather, no earthquakes) and none of my clients care except those I found through live networking when I was in Seattle.
My two bits.
