"Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto has argued convincingly that the total value of property held but not legally owned by poor people in the developing world is worth more than $9 trillion. To put that number into perspective, it is ninety-three times the amount of development assistance that the rich countries provided to the developing world over the past three decades."
-paraphrased excerpt from Naked Economics by Charles Wheelan (ISBN: 0393049825)
This book caught my attention with its title. It earned a place on my list of top recommendations by peeling back the onion of what the author calls a 'dismal science.' I wasn't very fond of Economics before I read the book. I can't say I'm too fond of them afterwards. But now I understand them. You will be suprised at how many of the world's problems can come into focus after investing time in Naked Economics.
Take the time to sharpen the saw... and pass along your recommendations. Keep in mind, everyone has read Rich Dad and the like, so some titles off the beaten path will serve everyone well.
Best of luck to all. Take care of each other...
