Buzzy Gordon

Hi all,
I have to confess that this Network is not big on members just introducing themselves and saying what they're doing, without providing some "cold, hard" advice or information, or kicking off a thread of thought-provoking discussion.

We still prefer that the title in the subject line not just be in the "hi, I'm new here" style, but at least hint at the content of your message.

That said, I was swayed by the theme of soul-searching that underlies Jim's post. If I can read into and summarize the gist of what he is saying, it personalizes what we have been talking about in the various formulas of success, as well as some of the goals for this group:

1. It is never too old to seize and follow your dream. Colonel Sanders was in his 60s when he started his franchie juggernaut. Your humble servant is in his 50s.

2. Find a niche, and if it is your passion, follow it. Of course, do your market research, and learn sales techniques, if you want it to be a profitable business rather than a hobby that just occasionally happens to bring in money.

3. Don't move too fast, even if you think you are getting a late start. Better safe than sorry. On the other hand, do not be afraid of making a mistake, or be deterred by a temporary setback. The road is not easy, but it can be exciting and fun.

4. Find a network of like-minded people -- like this one -- and explain your situation and experience. Say what you think you have learned so far, and ask for help. You will learn even more from the answers -- and so will we all!

Good luck! Carpe diem -- after 40, each day we have is that much more precious with which to fill with hope and action!
