As some have so pioniently stated, someone who has had the rug pulled out from under them in any situation to include loss of job should have some sort of cooling off period. I am an ice hockey coach of high school aged kids on two teams and I know that when something happens that is "not quite fair" or someone has been wronged, I ask for the parents to take a 24 hour cooling off period before they ask for a time for discussion. I, myself have adopted the same philosophy in dealing with wrongs as they relate to my children. I also believe that there are people who have the strongest of wills and are unphased by anything and want to move on as quickly as they can so as not to dwell on the problem but to ascertain a solution and forge ahead in acquiring what has been lost.
Since the subject is pertinent, I do have an opportunity that is timed "of the essence" that those who are former Excel reps and those who are looking for a or another opportunity to add to their bag of offers can take advantage of.
