Cardio exercises are very vital to your overall health. Keeping your heart strong will help prevent diseases. Being active also helps you to lose weight. While there are several different activities you can do to elevate your heart rate and burn calories, some of them are more effective than others. Below are the best cardio exercises that will keep you healthy.

Running is probably the best cardio workout you can give yourself. It is free to do, as no special equipment is necessary. I would recommend wearing appropriate clothing and shoes, but they are not expensive and last for a long while. Running outdoors allows you a lot of freedom regarding incline and distance. It is a good idea to change up your path every so often so that you will be burning a different amount of calories. Having routes with various hills and lengths will also make the activity of running not seem so boring or monotonous.

Aerobics are another of the best cardio exercises to do on a regular basis. Many people who choose this form of activity do so by buying a DVD and using it in their home.

You may also decide to join a gym and take aerobics classes that may be offered there. This can sometimes be more helpful than a video, as you will be working out with others and can socialize before and after class. Low impact aerobics are good for beginners and those that cannot do more intense forms of exercise. Most routines offer 30-45 minutes of working out that will raise your heart rate and keep it elevated, allowing you to burn calories.

Swimming is considered a full body exercise, but it is also very beneficial for your cardiovascular system. Many people prefer swimming over other exercises because it can be quite relaxing. It can also fun way to stay cool and still be active. It is important that you actually swim while in the water. Some swimmers believe just moving around in the water will burn a great deal of fat. However, more calories will be shed if you actually spend at least 30 minute swimming from one end of the pool to the other.

Cycling offers a great cardio workout. You can do buy a bike and trek across the neighborhood during the warmer weather. In the winter, you may want to opt for a stationery cycle that can be used inside the home. Biking a greater distance each time you exercise will increase your endurance and make your legs stronger.

All of these cardio exercises are beneficial to your health. Many people like to switch up the activities to keep working out from becoming a chore. Doing any of these exercises for at least 30 minutes 4-5 times a week will help to lose weight, maintain a healthy body, and keep your heart good and strong.
