Oh, there are many more where this one came from. The book's in the publisher's hands now. Taylor was an addicted pilot. In fact, MGM sent him to the company shrink because they thought he was too over-the-top about it. They also gave him a plane as part of his contract, I guess as a way to rein him in. The shrink thing was as much a Stanwyck-driven move as anything else.

Louis B. Mayer couldn't have the press getting hold of the fact that one of Hollywood's most "stable" marriages was in trouble. . . . That ol' PR machine at its finest!
