Kari, I am a marketing consultant specializing in websites and I swear by the "Don't Make Me Think" philosophy. Thanks for bringing it up. I highly recommend the book to anyone designing/building a website. In fact, it's probably the only book you need and it's an easy read. But if that's not enough, here's more good info:

As for Seth Godin, yes, I like his stuff, but I have a hard time getting past the fact that he takes other people's original ideas and markets them as his own without giving credit to the people whose shoulders he stands on. For example, his book "Unleashing the Ideavirus" was totally based on memetics, and he gave no credit to Richard Brodie, Susan Blackmore, or Richard Dawkins:
