Peace. Just joined this group. Great to find a bunch of fellow "unmarketers."
My favorite online systems, besides Ryze, are Ecademy, and LinkedIn. Ecademy is great for getting to know people. LinkedIn is great because it is such a huge system. Ryze is great because it is such a wide-open system, and large enough to have lots of people of interest in many places in the U.S. (like Seattle!)
I use these systems, and email, in combination with one another. Skype is an amazingly powerful tool for talking for free with other Skype users anywhere in the world. Skype, or another voice over IP program, is probably going to be one of the most essential tools for doing business over the Internet in the years to come.
But, I think it's essential to not only use the Internet. So, I also focus on doing in-person networking. This includes building in-person networks we call "neighbornets." We have a number of tools that we use to facilitate neighbornets, including networking lists. Our approach is to ask people if it's ok to share their contact info with others, and then send a copy of the list of all the contacts (who have agreed to share their info) to everybody on the list. It helps everybody to market themselves based on their interests.
Looking forward to getting to know everybody!
