I have notification turned on and simple set up a few rules in my e-mail program (Entourage on a Mac) to automatically file these in folders I've set-up. I currently am in 5 groups and have 5 folders set-up.

A notification comes in and the program automatically labels it and puts it in the right folder. I can then at my own connivence go and look. But it does not clog up the must red now top layer of my e-mail.

I find this works well for me as I'm not one to go to Ryze without a reason. Usually I'm just too busy. This way I can scan the topic, hit the link and be right there. Or just skip it.
