Years ago, I think one of the first discussions on this network was about promo items. I said it then, and I'll say it now, it's one of the worst ways to market your business.

Besides the fact that a lot are poorly made, people don't go through their drawers looking for who gave them pens when they're thinking of selling their house, or going through their logo-coffee mugs when they need to find a new dentist.

I have 30 pens in a drawer, couldn't name one business one them, goes the same for the mugs in the cupboard. If you're going to spend money or resources on something, use it to help out your market, educate them and be viewed as an expert.
