Hi Lamar:

It's not just in Middletown where people don't seem to care or RSVP. It's everywhere.

When Ernie and I got married last year there were people who didn't RSVP until the actual DAY of our wedding - even though invites were sent out six weeks in advance. I was getting my hair done and getting dressed for my wedding when several calls finally came in. What are people thinking!!?!

Last night I was part of an event with five other women business owners like myself. It was shocking how many people didn't RSVP. 400 people were invited (throught Evite.com ) and several reminders were sent - very few RSVPs came in though we had a full house last night.

I used to give a Holiday Tea Party for my women friends between Christmas and New Years - just something fun for the ladies in my life to let them know I appreciate them. I would painstakingly hand make lovely pastries, scones, canapes, tea sandwiches and more. I stopped doing it because people won't RSVP. I just became frustrated trying to chase people down when it seems to me they should be just a little bit grateful for the hospitality. Just a little bit.

I think maybe we need to come up with a different system besides RSVPs. It just doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't know if it's stress or people don't want to commit or what - but other friends I have who sometimes entertain say the same thing.

All the best,

Denise Michaels
