Well, I have actually been told some folks actually resent receiving Evites or even email. I have been told by my own business association's webmaster that when he sees he has an email from me he usually deletes it without reading it. Why pay to be of an organization, allow yourself to be put on a mailing list and then be upset that you get email?

I personally think that what has to happen is the mindset of people needs to change. We may both be encountering the same problem. I am not sure the reason is the same. But, here in Lake County, CA you have a bedroom community. Most folks must commute outside the county to work to be able to afford to live here. Just last weekend there was an amazing disaster preparedness exhibition at a local school. Helicopters were flying overhead, the local fire department was involved, among several other high-profile groups. But, you know what? Despite all the publicity that went out, few people showed up. This was an expensive showcase for the benefit of the public. The planners told me they were thinking that they would never go to this much trouble again for the benefit of the community. Why? Because the community did not respond. They did not even respond to something that could potentially save their own lives.
