Walter Paul Bebirian
Dear folks at Middletown,

I live in a small town in New York City called Forest Hills - which, as far as I understand it, was originally called White Pot - because its settlers traded 3 white pots with the Indians in order to obtain the land -

In those early days after Forest Hills was first settled - there were farms here - and then those farms were sold off and developers came and Forest Hills became the first planned community in the whole United States (I don't know if it holds that distinction for the rest of the world as well) -

One of my favorite things to do in the world is to take an hour and a half car ride going eastward towards the end of Long Island and just sit on the Beach at Southampton -:

between Southampton and Forest Hills, on the North Shore or Gold Coast of long Island is Oyster Bay which is home to the Planting Fields Arboretum where the greenhouse is continuously beatuiful arrangements of special plant and flowers:

and then further west from Oyster Bay on the Gold Coast (North Shore) as well can be found the beautiful Sands Point beach on the Long Island Sound facing the Connecticut shoreline -

oh and here is a photograph taken in the spring in Forest Hills Gardens - the first planned community in the U.S. that I mentioned earlier -

and we are a 30 minute ride from midtown Manhattan - this is a view from Rockefeller Center looking towards Central Park towards uptown and in the direction of upstate New York:
