John,
I want to be upfront here. The example you see here at Clusters is not the effort of just one person, yours truly. It is actually a collaborative effort of numerous Ryzers - just like that to-do-list board I have been promoting for weeks. It's not really about lifting up Lamar and the community where he lives. It's about demonstrating what one group of caring people can do for another. Hopefully, the folks on the receiving end of these to-do-list boards will figure out for themselves what is really being done here and want to respond or follow the example with someone else. These to-do-list boards actually make nice Christmas gifts. And, Christmas just happens to be right around the corner.
In today's social media world, it really does not matter anymore where you live on this Big Blue Marble - so far as your ability to make a difference is concerned. Granted, I do believe it helps to speak English. But, outside of a common language for communication purposes, what else is there that really stands in the way?
I can be a blessing to people in China. People in China can be a blessing to me. The politicians over there may tow the Communist line, but the people who are selling me electronic equipment are very much capitalististic. And, you know what? I bet the laptops computers they use type English - not Chinese.
