How funny, Felicia, that you've echoed a primary tenet of my signature speech (I know how you love those!). I called it the Flight Attendant Rule, and indeed,I agree that you can't be a martyr if you hope to be a hero to anyone (everyone?) else.

We all have limited resources: time, energy and money. We must wisely budget these resources if we hope to maintain physical, mental, psychological and fiscal solvency.

I like the concept of intrapersonal communication, what therapists call self-talk. Let's keep talking to ourselves...and saying good things. And I'm glad to see your post...I've felt a little lonely here lately.
