Oh, there are so many things you realize in hindsight, after 10 years! I remember when Lynda Weinman was getting famous for all her web design and web color palette stuff and thinking "I was an expert in all those things too!" I could have made myself famous if I'd done the right things at the right time. It never occurred to me. I wish I had gotten on to the info product bandwagon and learned to sell digital products way before I got around to it - I love to write, and gave it away for free for years, like an idiot. By the time I got around to it, it was so much more glutted and competitive.
One of my best "woulda coulda shouldas" came at the beginning. The local newspaper heard about me, a woman doing web design for companies around the world, from home (oooooh, ahhhhhhhhh!) back in 1996 and wanted to interview me.they wanted to send a camera and reporter to my "office." I was working a walk in closet at the foot of my bed. I hadn't even realized I HAD a business - I was just up all night doing what I loved without any time to go to my real job, and I was a real "turtle" back then. So I said "Go away! No way are you going to come in here."
Arrghhh... it took me YEARS to get their attention again. Knowing what I know now about publicity and media exposure, I could kick myself in the rear for that move.
I'm sure I'll think of more....
