If you want a "real" work at home job, in all practicality, you have to build a business. Home based jobs are mostly scams, and the real ones are so rare that there is little chance you'll succeed at landing one.

Self-employment isn't nearly as scary as it seems, but you do have to put in time to build the business and get it generating momentum before you see a return. You can do this one of two ways:

Joing a "Direct Sales" "Multi-Level Marketing", "Network Marketing" or "Distributorship" company. These are companies like ForeverGreen, GDI, Quixtar (formerly Amway), to name just a few, and there are plenty with long company history. Assess the soundness of the program, find out what the marketing restrictions are, what the ongoing (sometimes hidden) costs of doing business are, and most importantly, choose something you know you'll like promoting (otherwise you won't do it).

Build a business from scratch. Choose your niche wisely, and build your business piece at a time. This has more groundwork than a distributorship, but more options and flexibility too.

Either way, you have to LEARN, and you have to really WORK if you want a business to succeed.

This is probably NOT what you want to hear, but it is absolutely the truth. Working at home is a privilege, which all of us who do earn by sacrifice, dedication, and a willingness to think outside the box, while still adhering to rules of common sense and sound financial management.

Beware of any company that wants money up front for a listing of "work at home jobs". Most lists are filled with absolute scams, or shady systems so close to scams that you'll end up getting taken anyway - plus a whole lot of listings that are really for home businesses, NOT for actual employment situations. Even the websites that say they have "legitimate" work at home jobs do not really qualify them based on high integrity standards.
