re: Any tips for marketing on Myspace? |

Thank you all for the GREAT MySpace marketing advice! Keep the tips coming! I made a HUGE mistake on Myspace. I had close to 3,000 friends on MySpace and thought I could do no wrong. That's until I posted an invitation to join a free marketing seminar breakfast on a classified ad. A few days later, without any warning, MySpace shut my account down! (And this was not a direct link to an affiliate website but a link to my blog).
All that hard work wasted! Lesson: DO NOT include or post any affiliate links on Myspace! I had an affiliate link on my profile and I also sent out occasional bulletin post invites to attend an educational seminar or consider an educational product. I always balanced my posts with really useful, genuine articles and information and never did any aggressive marketing like those questionable biz opportunity posts or aggresively recruiting for MLMs.
But in the end, I lost my account, and I'm still not really sure what the specific reason was because I was operating the same way for several months without anything going wrong.
Myspace will simply shut down a profile without even the slightest thought or consideration. I will no longer spend most of my efforts in building a community on any one social networking site, because of this negative experience. It left me with a hollow, empty feeling when I got the email saying my account was shut down with no recourse.
