The foundation of every business is its employees. In order to build a solid foundation, having a professional pre-employment screening program in place is a must. Here is why:
** Discourages dishonesty in the application process. It has been estimated that as many as 33% of all applicants omit facts they don't want known or put false information of the application such as their names, date of birth, or social security numbers.
** Demonstrate due diligence. An employer has an obligation to take reasonable steps to hire the right person for the job.
** Eliminate uncertainty in the hiring process. Solid facts are needed to make an informed hiring decision.
** Save money. It is not cost effective to recruit, train, and equip a new hire only to find he/she is not right for the job.
** Avoid the disastrous effects of a bad hire such as theft or embezzlement, violence in the workplace, harassment, lost clients or customer. unproductive employees, and the very real possibility of a negligent hiring or retention suit.
** To conduct a thorough screening takes time. time you could be using to build your business and profits.
One solution is to contact a licensed private investigator to conduct your pre-employment screening. Forget the persona of a PI typically seen on TV. In reality many states (such as Florida) have strict laws governing the profession thus they are held to a higher standard than those who are not licensed. Their agencies are consumer reporting agencies thus they are fully versed and compliant with federal and state laws. The problem with using an "employment agency" is most do not use, because they don't have access, to private databases that are FCRA and DPPA approved that a licensed private investigator uses. This is important to note because you have paid for information that legally can not use to base a hiring decision on.
Pre-employment screening can be confusing and complicated. don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.Private Reply to Sandy Glover (new win) |
