Digitiser Tablet - to replace scratch pad

I need advice on using Digitizer Tablet

My purpose is:

1. To use Tablet as scratch pad
2. Store the jottings, Phone Number scratched.
3. Use OCR to search and find required info.
4. Is Digitizer tablet useful for such purpose
5. Any other suggestion to replace paper scratch pad.

I do not have much need for drawing,graphics etc.

Hope to get advice from tech savvy friends / user of digitizer.
