Hiya EB- Good to see you back.
While I think it's not fair to discount social networking tools, I personally didn't find much value in Google Buzz within the first day or so that it was added to my Gmail service--your milage may vary. For me, it was pretty much another way of doing something I already do, and telling me things I already knew.
(It is only my personal opinion) that Buzz won't be bringing me any value...with perhaps the one exception that it might make it easier to connect with folks who are NOT on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc., and possibly lead me to their profiles on those pages - but so far, I didn't see anyone in my Buzz page who I was not already connected to in some way.
Within the first day or so that it was added to my Gmail service, and after reviewing what it was all about, I promptly shut off Buzz. The good news is, if I find a good review from anyone else I know using it (or read anything online) which might convince me that it's worthwhile, I can easily turn it back on again (link at the bottom of my Gmail page).
