HI Hank,

Due to the increase use of script attacks by hackers seeking to gain control of web servers in order to use them as spam relays, secure "captcha" protected forms are becoming necessary.

These forms have a graphic which display characters that must be typed into a form field which enables the form to be submitted.

Other than that I have not found it necessary to have validation for correctness but only for content.

http://phpformgen.sourceforge.net/ is a resource that lets us design forms using php. The page also has a download of their open source software.
