1. You think it looks good, but your website probably looks like your little brother designed it. And, don't go to one of these template businesses. Most people can spot them a mile away. You get what you pay for! Look professional!

2. Your phone answering machine for your business is your house phone and the message is: "Hi...You've reached the Johnson clan...Steve, Sue, Samantha, and Sean value your call, so please leave message when you hear Fido, our dog, bark"! Change it and tell your family when they call not to hang up...they have the right number.

3. Your business cards and stationary were produced with your inkjet printer or are from some spiffy, cut-rate printing service...Once again, you get what you pay for.

3. You only check email three times a week and are not prompt with replies...this goes for phone calls, too. People love to deal with someone who is professional...and, that means being prompt.

4. Not wanting to call anyone outside of your area code. There are tons of flat rate long distance packages where you can make unlimited calls all over the US and with the VOIP services intercontinental calls are just a few pennies a minute.

5. Thinking that words don't matter. Every word on your site, your business card, what you say on the phone is critical. Discover the words that make a difference and use them. If you don't know how to write good, compelling copy hire someone to help you. I know someone, btw. *wink*

6. Fearing failure and not having a "failure is not an option" mindset...Attitude is key!

7. Flagging passion for your business...just doing it to make money....forget success if this is the case and go get another job if you just want money.

8. Starting a business and not working your butt off...even when you don't really feel like it. Sleep can wait!

9. Buying into the "something for nothing" pitfall on the net. Buying the ebooks or information of self-proclaimed gurus...They make their money selling their books to you! Get a real, live Mentor who has "made it"...Don't try to reinvent the wheel! I know a great marketing and book mentor, btw. *LOL*

10. Not thinking like a winner, but a loser....playing too safe and taking little risk....working hard and not smart, etc.

All the best,
