April Newbies - Here's a to-do list for you. Views: 253
Apr 01, 2010 11:12 pm April Newbies - Here's a to-do list for you.

John Stephen Veitch
People come to Ryze and other social networks with personal preconceptions that prevent success.

It's NOT ABOUT YOU.

It's not about your ADVERTISING.

The first things you need to do help you to find out where you are, and what Ryze (in this case) is like. "Seek first to understand" says Steven Covey. Please take his advice.

DO something, to help you learn what Ryze is and does.

Therefore:

1. Join at least TEN networks.

Then do some reading, find out what's of interest. I mean what sorts of topics are discussed and were advertising is allowed and not allowed, and then find experienced people. (They are usually the ones writing the interesting posts.)

Visit the Ryze homepages of at least 30 experienced Ryze members. Note the NAMES of the ten people with the best pages.

Go back to those pages and try to work out why those pages are "Best" in your view. You probably can't do as good as that yet, but in a year or so, you page will be "best" too.

So that's the next task. Your own Ryze page.
The header of this Network says;
"Thanks for Joining - Let's DO Something
Use your real name - build trust
Be a real person - not your business
Come willing to learn
Restrain the urge to advertise"

2. Then it lists six things to do, and gives the link to follow.
"Complete your personal info. http://www.ryze.com/userinfo.php
Include a photograph of YOU http://www.ryze.com/photoedit.php
Write 15-25 lines about yourself http://www.ryze.com/edit.php
Edit the Have / Want lines http://www.ryze.com/edit.php
Open your Guest Book http://www.ryze.com/preferences.php
Join at least TEN Ryze networks - You did do that didn't you?

That's about a month's work for most people, two days for some.

3. If you've got time:
Collect some simple statistics from a few Ryze pages.
Name
Joining Date
Homepage hits
Number of networks Joined
Total Guestbook entries
Number of friends

Prove to yourself what works.
You'll find that 80% of Ryze members remain forever newbies, they NEVER find out how to use Ryze. Most people after four years have mad a months worth of progress.

18% of people do a good deal better than that. But I want to point to the top 2%. They make remarkable and rapid progress. They do it by doing very simple things. They are not wonder-kind. They simply communicate easily and well in a conversational way with lots of people.

You can do that too.
