I've been reading this topic since it started and just had the opportunity to look at the site. I actually think it isn't that bad.

In terms of goal-oriented design it seems to cover the priorities. What are people looking for if they go to this site? Discounts, Nutrition info, Locations, and more information about the sandwich. Right from the start it covers these areas.

I do agree that Flash is not used for the most functional design, however, this site is supposed to be a bit on the "fun" exploratory side.

My biggest issue is that i have broadband and have not viewed the site on dial-up. If i did I'm sure my opinion would be much different.

I read some people talking about the amount of clicks to get to a certain point. Does this really matter? If it is 5 clicks and keeps you motivated and confident you are going the right way you will be fine. The web is created around links (clicks) and if everything was N clicks away or less then we would have some cluttered designs out there. The main point is to make sure they are moving in the right direction. Although, If a flash site takes 30 seconds to load each screen then clicks start to matter.

Of course Macromedia loves this site because it uses nothing but flash and other macromedia products, but for me this has to be my pick for the Worst Site of the Day. Burger King’s site makes you sit through a ton of useless flash movies before you can get to any information. BK.com demonstrates a classic mistake of most commercial websites: Entertaining the user is top priority rather than informing the user. If a person goes to Burger King’s site they don’t want to see a commercial they want specific information.

>For instance, when you click on Food and Nutrition, in the top navigation bar, a snazzy and rather long flash movie loads and at the end of it you get some weird mystery meat (no pun intended) navigation system. A list of links on the left also appears on this page. When you click on the first link on the left, WHOPPER® Sandwiches, you get yet another weird navigation system of flying whoppers. Why couldn’t they just cut to the chase and give you the nutrition chart (http://www.bk.com/Food/Nutrition/NutritionWizard/index.aspx).

>It really worries me that marketers and business owners’ buy-in to sites like these. Everything is always about how “cool” it is rather than how functional it is. There are times when I wish production tools such as Flash and Fireworks didn’t exist at all. That way designers and site owners wouldn’t be compelled to abuse these tools by creating sites that use nothing but crazy and cool features that make it next to impossible to navigate.

>Take a look at Wendy’s website (wendys.com), one of Burger King’s top competitors. In my opinion, their site has too many huge graphics and a useless splash page, but at least their site is functional and easy to traverse. Also, since this site doesn’t use Flash there is no waiting for movies to load and run before you get to the content you want.

>This was just my two cents on what I thought was an interesting pick for a Site of the Day. I‘m interested to hear what the group's thoughts are on this.
