...'User' Experience is an interesting term, but how about calling it like it is: a 'Customer Experience.' After all, the CUSTOMER is the reason you're in business.
...Stop by and see us sometime! And PLEASE trash the term 'user!'
Tracey,
I'm not sure you quite understand what it means to be a usability or user experience practitioner, so let me enlighten you...
In this field we our concerned with the usability of products. Which means that we have to be an advocate for all of our end users. Not every one of them will be a customer. A customer, one that buys goods or services (definition), would only be found on an e-commerce site where you can actually buy something. Are we supposed to not care about the end users of non-transactional sites?
I am passionate about this so please excuse my tone. I have to laugh when you, someone who doesn’t even work in or understand our field and only posted something to up sell their business, suggest to “trash” something in which our entire practice is based.
Sorry, I believe your entire post was in poor taste.
Kyle
